Thread: My Mutant Rancor Heaven Story
Well I was out on Dathomir in the Intrepid Galaxy doing the badge collection thing when I ran across a spot that probably had 20-30 Mutant Rancors in the same general location. I though to myself wow this is to good to be true. So I looked both ways searching high and low for those mean sisters and those hillbilly mountain folk. All was clear, time to break out the needle and sample bag!
I hopped off my speeder bike which was now backfiring from taking damage and I cringed waiting for one of those Mutant Rancors to hear it. Nope, they still didnt hear me. I clicked onto my bike ensuring that when I returned to it I wouldnt try exiting the vehicle while making a quick get away from my patients. I throw on my +25 mask scent combo clothing which brought it up to a total of +95. Still only taking small steps I figure I should probably crawl the rest 70 meters. So I hunker down into the damp stinky moss and start making my way towards my target.
All of a sudden MASK SCENT BREAKS! Im doomed! I freeze, not making a move, barely even breath, I wait till I am able to mask scent again. The mutant Rancors have not noticed me yet, good. So I continue my slow crawling journey towards them. Almost in range...getting close I pull out my sample kit and take a hit of the magical spice Moun Gold. Im pretty sure its not addictive, at least thats what Im told from my Spice dealer.
With my mind full of power from the Moun Gold I stand in range of the Mutant Rancor. Here comes the tricky part. I slowly inject my needle into the Rancor Hoping he wont notice the razor sharp needle sliding into his armor plated skin. I slowly retrieved the sample and with a horrifying roar the Rancor falls to his death with a tremendous crash to the Dathomirian forrest floor. SoI think to myself well one down only 19 more samples needed, and thats without my equipment failing on me and having a critical failure during the DNA regeneration process. I had to clear my thoughts, any distractions now and it would speak certain doom.
So with my next target in site I slowly start crawling towards it. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. Damit! I thought I turned my pager off. This is no time to be taking orders for lvl 70 kimos! I turn the pager off with a polite msg saying that I am in the field doing work and will get back to them please leave an email message at the tone.
With all distractions aside I continue on. My next target in sight a towering Mutant Rancor that did not seem to be in a good mood at all. Nevertheless I needed DNA for my orders. I get within range and pull out the sample kit again and procede to take a sample...FAILURE!! And the creature has spotted me! I must have used the same needle that I used on the last Rancor, damnit how could I have been so carelss using a dull needle on a creature is only asking for trouble! So I turn around receiving a glancing swipe that manages to open a horrible wound on my back...Im now bleeding, if only I can make it back to my speeder! Time to run like there is no tommorow, and there wont if I dont make it!
Halfway back to the speeder I realize that the Rancors brothers has also spotted me! Im doomed for sure. I cover my eyes, resigning to the fact that I will be this creatures family next meal. When the fatal blow does not come after what seems like hours but in fact only seconds I open my eyes. To my amazement the family of Mutant Ranor has turned onto each other! Maybe they could not decide who would get the first and last bite of me, but for whatever reason they have lost total intest in me. I decide that this was an omen not to be taken lightly and to get out with my life and slightly damaged skin intact.
I hop back onto my speeder kick into gear and take off, ensuring that I mark this spot in my Global Posistion Pad. I figure its safe to turn my pager back on. BEEP BEEP BEEP! Can you make me a lvl 70 Durni...BEEP BEEP BEEP! Whats taking so long? Why isnt my lvl 70 kimo done yet? I sigh and turn the pager back on, contemplating just throwing down into the moss of the Dathomiran forrest floor, but decide against it, the money is just to good. 
So with a bellow of smoke and a loud backfire I race back to the Trading Outpost, planning my visit back to Rancor Valley. Who knows maybe I'll bring a ranger along to help with the concealment..........

My own Mutant sampling trips have provided me with a lot of fun also (and some great pets).
right on! That's how it goes for me too. I could be sitting there sampling and inbreeding for hours but as soon as I get near rancors I start getting a flood of tells. I've tried to explain to people that it is very difficult to sample these but they don't understand it. If I could convince them to try to pet one they might understand.
I don't understand how mutant rancors are so perceptive in detecting my masked scent yet enraged rancors which are supposed to be much higher rarely ever smell me.
The biggest problem I have is aggroing a mutant when sampling usually means every rancor in the area goes insane and fight each other :/
There is a plus side to this, they ignore you. I jump in & hit every single rancor, then peace, and maskscent over & over.
The ones that die, you can then harvest (made 5k meat in 2 hours lol), the ones that survive - because you stay next to them, you get to sample
It takes a lot of time, patience & death, but I managed to get 15 samples in the last 14 hours, and made a CL68 kimo and a CL61 carrion spat (boy that thing is evil
), and I have DNA left to make something 50ish when I get new kits (last death destroyed all myy kits, +maskscent clothing and armour 
)
. I gave a try to make a kimo out of them and got a CL74 kimo. Experimenting a bit I threw some krettle Dna in the mix and got a nice cl 66 kimo with light armor, tons of resists , 12k ham and 600 dam. Sold the beautiful beast at 550K credits right away.

Well i managed to get the dna that I needed, combined the mutant rancor dna with some rancor youth dna and actually maxed everything out. I ended up with a lvl 72 creature that I sampled and got 2 good samples from. I havent made the second generation critter yet, I gotta go back out and get more Mutant Rancor DNA.
Just a little side note. I managed to wrangle a couple of Nightsister and Mountain Rancors away from their trainers. I managed to get 5 or so samples from the two.Does anyone know what CL these guys are? I checked Warcry out and there is no CL listed.
Nightsisters = lvl 55
If I remember righty the clan mountain rancors are the same lvl.
