Thread: DNA from Enreaged and Ancient Bull Rancors
After spending all morning trying to get DNA from these Rancors - I started at about 8am and its now 12:20 - I got exactly none .. Whats up with that?
I am a Master BE and its a pain just getting close to these beasts - got killed and etc, etc. ...
So whats the trick? Did these get a No DNA Today Flag or something??
Suggestion:
Maybe make it where a Player can only get One Sample DNA per MOB at this level per hour. This would be a bit less frustrating than Zero DNA for 4 Hours and a few deaths and etc.
I am at a loss - any tips on this would be appreciated
it is hard,
i have had pretty gool luck getting close by masking scent .... go prone at 20-30 meters and crawl the rest of the way *yes it is agonizing* but i can get close enough to sample at 10 meters .. then i just pray he holds still!
i have spent 18 hours looking for frenzied grauls or ancient grauls ...
i found 2 frenzied's but befor i could get to themn the vanished :/ kinda sux ...
i am looking just west of the abandoned reble base on dantooine ...
if there is a better place please let me know

Ancient = CL98
There is a hard cap at CL75. If you try to sample over that level, you will never succeed.

Now i know why ....
After failing 25-30 times on an Enraged Rancor I gave up too....
Is there somewhere you can take a peak what CL's the critters have?
..not beeing a Ranger I really could use some help there.

as an MCH/MBE with +25 mask scent on my clothes and a speeder bike, i've been able to sample enraged rancors all day long (but they're too high lvl and i didn't relaize it.. so i always failed... found out later that tehy were over 75)
generally i have pretty good luck sampling nasties this way:
mask scent, hop on swoop. find a target around 60 meters out, and slowly ride the swoop towards it. once the creature breaks your scent, get off, stand perfectly still, and wait till you can mask again. once i remask, the mask rarely breaks again at that range. then sample the bugger as many times as you can, before fleeing to your swoop when it agros due to a failed sample. i had pretty good luck with this in the middle of a huge merek spawn and on three different bull rancor nests.

I have yet to see a frenzy in the wild, and ive had several people searching the right areas where graul spawn. I have however sampled an inventory and backpack full of Ancient Grual DNA, its extremely easy...hell after mutant rancors id call Ancient Graul DNA a cakewalk.
Hmm, whenever something aggros on me, I can't get on my bike at all...in combat -for me at least - the only option that shows on the radial menu is "examine". Does it work with a hotkey?
Most of the time it's not an issue though, as the bike will just vanish into my datapad as soon as I dismount. Grrr.
