Thread: CL Cloning Formula Version 1.0

Ok, as someone who is tryng to carve out a niche in the mid-CL level clones, being able to predictably make a creature of a given level is a must, so I've been working hard crunching numbers trying to come up with a formula that maps the values on a template to a given CL score. It always seems to evade though as just when I think I've got it, a bunch of new data comes in and suggests that it's not correct. Well anyway, I thought I'd share my current formula that usually puts you in the right "ballpark" CL-wise. Still needs plenty of tweaking however.

Resist Sum = Sum (all resist values)

Attribute Sum = Sum (hardiness, dexterity, endurance, intellect, cleverness, courage, fierceness, power)

*note that omission of dependability and fortitude from this sum*

CL Level = (Resist Sum * .03) + (Attribute Sum * .01) + 5 (if light armor is present) - (.1 * dependability)

Doh! that should be .01 * dependability

Mid-level is CL25-CL30

I would consider giving Fierceness a lower weight. I find most non-resampled DNA has Fierceness between 95 and 105. DNA from creatures with high Ferocity, like various types of Rancors, can have Fierceness in the 500-700 range, but I haven't noticed Ferocity having much of a benefit to a pet. Of course, we're talking here about trying to figure out how SOE has decided to calculate CL, not what we would think is logical. So, it's mainly a trial and error process. One of these days I may write a Neural Network program that can learn how to predict CL through a trial and error process.

When I was talking about "mid level" I was talking in the 20-40 CL range, that's the range of pets I'm focusing on making, but if I get this formula right there's no reason it can't work for all CL levels.

When I get home and get access to a decent computer again I can hunt around for something that will do Gaussian elimination and hopefully nail this formula. Without that, doing it by hand I've had to make a lot of assumptions (which are clearly not quite right) and assume only 4 variables when there are clearly more than that. Oh well, it's a first attempt.

One thing that is difficult about this though is that there are some combines that are clearly haywire. That deviate from any kind of formula that we're going to come up with in a big way, so it's vital to identify and disregard such combines.

I"ll give thisa whirl tomorrow after I get home from the family xmas gathering. I like the thinking on it, particularly the armor part... that goes right along with Light Armor = 50 Resists.

This could explain alot of the weirdness with the lower level super pets... the 0strings on resists might be showing up in such a calculation at the 0.3*sum of resists, thus artificially depressing a clone by a good factor.

  • 45 * 8 * 0.03 = 10.8

  • so if the 0's are showing up instead of the 45's like they should, that would drop 11 CL's off instantly

What do you define as 'mid-level'? CL's what to what?

Hehhe I was going to sleep dangit... must resist playing with numbers.

I"ve noticed those weird combines also. Think there were 2 datapoints out of almost 200 that didn't fit EXACTLY to the damage formula... and they were WAY WAY WAY off.
