Well i wasn't gonna bother reading my holocron but since they gave me two I decied to use the spare one and see if I'd like trying to be a Jedi... it said to master musician. So they can f*ck right off since I'd personally prefer to have a root canal than waste my time with that. I dunno if the Jedi system is designed to make things unenjoyable on purpose but it's sure as hell making alot of people not want to bother with attempting it since it'd be so boring.

What did anyone else's xmas holocron say?

My ranger/CH got Master Dancer. She's *not* going to be doing that..

An alt I played for all of 5 minutes on another server when I created her got Master Commando. Mildly interesting but honestly with 3 accounts I don't have time for any more characters. Maybe in six months if I run out of things to do.

I haven't opened the two my tailor and BE got (total of 4).. I'll probably just save them for friends.

And as for the art.. I got quite a few swan heads and spikey things, but none of the curly rebel symbol looking thing.

Merry Holodays!

Sadly, if you're attached to what you are, you won't become a Jedi. That is just how the system seems to work. Several theories out there on how the professions are picked, but in all of them, it is 5 professions mastered.

I had to do Musician on my second account... while not my cup of tea, it was fun and had some interesting possibilities. Had to do Architect too LOL. Pregathering materials only takes about 4 to 6 hours using macros to Master. Other two professions from Holocrons were Doctor and Marksman.... the kicker though is the 5th profession I was up to 15 Master titles on Omus when the cloning system came out. I needed the break though.... will get back to my profession grind eventually, but i definitely was burning out.

The one enjoyable thing about having to master a bunch of different professions is that i got to see more of the game. See bits that I wouldn't have ever dreamed of looking at. Understand other game mechanics. Inspire ideas for templates.... not to say that I was honestly a MASTER in all those professions (meaning having a deep understanding of the intricacies of the profession's ins and outs), butI at least got to see them.

Just wish there was a way to narrow down that 5th profession.

Sumo - Master Bio Engineer - Master Creature Handler

Omus - Master Artisan, Merchant, Marksman, Musician, Architect, Medic, Doctor, Scout, Brawler, Image Designer, Entertainer, Ranger, Swordsman, Armorsmith, Droid Engineer, Creature Handler, Smuggler

Sadly, if you're attached to what you are, you won't become a Jedi.

That is the flaw with the system and why people didn't become Jedi without Holocrons. It's not enjoyable to need to play multiple professions you don't have an interest in, only people who are single minded enough to want to be a Jedi will waste their time with mastering professions they do not have any interest in... or the ones who are so bored that they figure it all they have left to do.

I got Master Pistoleer from my Holo. Not displeased with it, but won't be giving up Master BEor MasterCH anytime soon.Without even Novice Marksman or Brawler now, being able to kill things myself will be a nice change when I get bored of BE/CH. My other char, a Master Weaponsmith, got Image Designer, which makes me thankful Anarrion at least got somethingIcan have fun with.

Lol, I didn't even open mine. I'm not even tempted. One thing you have to say about the supposed "Path to Jedi". It will most likely guarantee that there will not be 1000's of Jedi running around in this time frame. As many of you said, you become attached to your character. When I first started,I had aspirations of being a CH & BE. That has not changed. I enjoy the character i have created so the odds of me ever dropping those skills to master something else are slim. Plus once you actually open the slot, the grind there seems mind numbing.

I'm still not sold that the Holo's necessarily open the slot anyway. There have been several that opened without ever using a holo so there still may be hope for some of us

Plus, I think that once the timeline advances and the devs can justify more Jedi in the game, they will make it much easier for you to open the slot - just my two credits worth though

I have two accounts, neither one of which is my "main" as I get on kicks where I will play one for weeks, then the other. My doc/be is not going after the jedi pie. My other is. Started out as a master smuggler, mastered musician on the word of a holo, and am in the process of mastering pistoleer (still have master smuggler). It does broaden the horizon a bit, once you get past the "OMG! Musician?!? Thish sucks!!" shock of opening the holo and then deciding to knuckle down and do it. It takes me a while to do because I refuse to afk macro, but I am having fun on both accounts.

I got master musician too. it's just boring, I really enjoyed ch and BE and I was going to level up fencer.

I had to surrender all the pistoleer tree (I wanted to surrender but I needed some skills for combat support... whatever), I won't be able to level up the fencer tree for a while, and I may need to give up some ch as well..
I'm a REAL musician in my life so I don't need to be a musician in SWG, but I want to get the slot so I can play two characters on the same server without an extra account.

I looked at my first one just for kicks.. it was Teras Kasi Artist. Not bad, but I'm not going to switch professions.

It just amazes me that they would put such a trivial, mundane system in to unlock FS slot. I mean seriously, if I were a dev for SOE, I'd be embarrassed to be part of such a thing.
