Thread: Clones do use specials, but only when they mature

Just wanted to let folks know that the clone specials do work however it seems that the pet needs to be fully grown for them to be activated. Still couldn't get the special commands to function though but my super pet was sticking her disease and dizzy specials on the animals in the narglatch and veermok caves on Naboo with surprizing regularity. Also it seems the minimum growth time is around5 days even if the clone is CL1 or CL5, both my hermit spider and the gurrcat matured at exactly the same rate.

I have a theory I'm trying. My pets have always opened up with specials especially the ranged pets. I'm trying the tactic of using attack and follow macros to make them break and reinitialize combat over and over, to get them to use specials more. No conclusive results yet though.

I'm thinking the commands just tell the pet which one to use next time it uses one, or are just broken.

I was a bit curious as to why the datapad says it has specials, but examining the creature when called says it does not. Thanks for the info.

My pets seem to start using specials when they are at least half grown, full grown pets use them most often. Some specials dont always stick, and as far as i can tell none show in the combat tab, so its difficult to determine how often pets use the specials. Specials on command never work, even with the wild pets.

With my BE pets, i can not train the ranged attack command, even though they have it and use it.

Ranged attacks on graul are pretty cool to watch Looks like they are pitching a baseball.

I think that when they are younger they just don't hit as often which makes it seem like the SA's don't work.

I had 2 pets (both clones) out last night, both with knockdown and poison. Well I've decided that my CL37 Hermit Spider is just a raving moron, so we won't count him. I could get them both do poison occasionally. but the knockdown never worked once. I took out around 50-60 bols and pickets and they all managed to stay upright.

I think you are on to something, but I think they actually seem to start hitting as they grow, not just when they reach adult.

If you are having problems with your pets using the specials. Firt trian your pet in follow other, then make a macro that does /follow other and then /special 1 or /special2

The trick to getting specials to work is to make a macro that tells the pet to follow the target and perform the special. Something like "/tellpet chase; /tellpet special1;". I don't know why but using this method my pets always attempt their special, it is not guaranteed that it will always hit;
