Thread: Damage seems to be tied to Clvl.

Higher the damage, the higher level the Clvl will be.

Now you can play with the values to a point, but typically wild critters will have between 10-12 damage per Clvl and the same seems to hold true for clones more or less. I have seenthe damage higher and lower, but generaly this is what I see and any pet with with a 10 damage per level I consider a good one.

The other day a friend asked me to make him a pet. The interesting thing about this pet is he wanted a "gunner" a range only pet, so the only requirements for the pet was ranged attack, lvl 23, some kinetic resist, 7-9k ham, and highest attack possible. Since he didn't want armor, I figure I could make this pet in 2-3 generations, starting with a good clvl 40'sh dna, I chose prowling gurreck for resists and a merek cavern creeper for specials, and either barkmite worker or arachne warrior for ranged attacks. When experimenting, I mainly focused on aggression and psycological. I was keeping power in the 600's. What ended up happening was the first pet I made really didn't drop any levels like I expected, it was a clvl 40's pet with damage in 500's, about 9k ham. For sucessive generations I stuck to the same plan, experimenting on aggression and psyc, ignoring everthing else and this is what happened. My HAM dropped dratically, while damage stayed about the same and clvl only dropping 1 maybe 2 levels per generation. Now, what I end up with and I am alittle foggy since its been awhile since I did this, was a lvl 30 critter that did about 500 damage, but only had about 1-2k in HAM.

I could of told you this even before the BE patch

In Thunderhearts comments about CH's, they are more meant now to be damage dealers, than dmg takers. Thus the CL is being judged on the attack power of the creature. Resists and armor aren't too terribly clear on if they effect that calculation and to what degree. Based on some results from other BE's, I'd say it's a very minor or nonexistant component in the CL calculation.

It seems most everyone else seems to think, or want to believe that CL calcuation is based on HAM. It simply isn't.

Prior to the creature revamp CL was 100% dependent upon damage. Dmg/10 = CL +/-2

Post patch, yes, I agree there is still a strong correlation between Damage and CL, however much more has been introduced into the equation. Attack and To Hit seem to weigh at least as heavily as damage. Average HAM seems to have only a moderate effect. Specials have zero effect. Armor seems to have around a 10CL effect (though we've seen some armor in the teens which seems incongruent). Resists... they don't seem to weigh hardly at all in the CL equation.

And I think I just rambled. Cold medicine = guud.

I agree on the whole. I have some of my results posted

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bio-engineer&message.id=45460
In these I see 2nd generation HAM experimented creatures with CL 15 and 50-75 damages. Thats about 4-5 damage per CL.

CL = resistances + DPS (damage per second)

So yeah it's not changed much from the old system accept they now take protection into account as well, the is one itty bitty flaw in the system though. All those clones which are around CL30 with 500 points of damage or CL5 with 300 points of damage.

For a while there I was very interested in a formula to preduct CL level based on stats since that is exactly what we must do when we take customer orders. However, after seeing all these CL 10 pets with armor, 50% resists, 300 damage etc etc it's become clear that any such formula is entirely meaningless. It's become pretty clear that theCL calculations that the game uses on BE creatures is so hair-brained and misguided that there's really no point in trying to make much sense of it. If they ever bring some sanity to this I'll have another go at the formula. Until then, I'll focus on other aspects of it like techniques and recipes.
