I have been trying to get the Xanda macro to work from here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=bio-engineer&message.id=70461

I havent been to succesful.
I am a 3/4/4/4 BE. I have beena BE as long as I can remember. I have been trying to get the Xanada macro.txt macro to work , but I keep getting this:

FAILED to load alias from: macros.txt

I copied and pasted exactly into a blank word doc , saved as macros.txt the copied to SWG folder.

I have made a macro /load macros.txt and /AutoCraft1 for Toolbar 9 like its says to do. I changed the /selectDraftSchematic to 002 - which should make me MNS or a scouts greneade.

I have printed and read and reread the directions , can someone offer some insight as to what I might be missing? HELP!

Well it seems your copy and pastes seems to work. Sorry I can't help, I didn't do a macro that way.

You either have something flaky with your macro.txt file, or it is not in the right directory.

The formatis different - have a look at the file and you'll see that it does not conform to the format that the "Autocraft" macro expects. For a start, in the actual file each macro has a reference to an icon - something not in the autocraft copy and paste macro.

A simple bit of effort and work yourself and you'll see all those Autocraft macros in SWG once you've edited that file and adjusted the autocraft ones before saving and quitting.

Edited to say that I can appreciate that the original link is not creating macros but aliases - editing the actual macros file (not hard) - you can have the actual macros ready in swg if you do.

You know the funny thing, in the time it has taken you to figure out this macro problem, you probably could be master already.

Simple solution: open notes.txt in your swg\profiles\playernames folder (if it doesn't exist create it). Copy/paste the macro. Start the game, (if you haven't already done it) assign keys to chat copy/chat paste in-game (options -> control -> keymap). Open your /notepad and copy/paste the text into a macro window. Type the name, select an icon, type a number for the schematic and you're done.

Remove the autocraft#: though, that is only needed when making aliases

Hmm. Have a look at the current macros file in your swg folder on your hard drive under your profile. At some point (not sure when) - the format of the macros changed from what that message you refer to lists the macro as.

You should have no problem adjusting that macro if you need to use it to suit the current format of the macros file. It's fairly simple when you have a look at it.

Have fun.

i've personally found in-game macros to be much much easier to use and a lot quicker to edit, in case something, like what you're experiencing happens.

i'd suggest you take what you know about them, from this macro and make an in-game one and then literally see where it runs off the rails, so its easier to repair

cheers

Well I'm a former MBE hehe, but I'd like to help. Maybe it's a simple mistake of you forgetting to put the "s" in macro.txt?

Update!

Well I found a Chef macro that works great! After a fewtweaks to it I now have a much improved understanding ...hehe. I had 10,000 XP in 30 min with it. What I did was typed it in as a new macro , created a 2nd macro called /load chefmacro and placed it in toobarSlot00. It works beautifully.Here is the macro :

/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/selectDraftSchematic xxx;
/pause 4;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/createprototype practice no item;
/createprototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/selectDraftSchematic xxx;
/pause 4;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/createprototype practice no item;
/createprototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot03;
/selectDraftSchematic xxx;
/pause 4;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/createprototype practice no item;
/createprototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot04;
/selectDraftSchematic xxx;
/pause 4;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/createprototype practice no item;
/createprototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot05;
/selectDraftSchematic xxx;
/pause 4;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/nextcraftingstage;
/createprototype practice no item;
/createprototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot00; <---this loops the macro back to /load chefmacro

I wish I would have taken the time to figure this out a long time ago , however I will say I certainly know how to craft quality BE items and pets.
