Well, there are a few different ways to enter data... the use the notepad method (that you're mentioning) is a bit more complex but saves having to flip in and out of the game.
Start slow... when you find a current resource that isn't listed:
* open the page for the right server / planet and at the very bottom of the page theres a text entry box.**
* Type nothing but the name of the resource and submit, if you have a few resources to add for that planet enter each one on its own line.
* The next screen will give you a dropdown to choose the resource class and some boxes to enter the stats... fill em in then submit the info
And you've just added something
** You have to be registered & logged in to see the box

And when you are ready for it ... what you have to know is this. The information in your notepad is only there b/c you copy the information from looking at the resource to your notepad (type /notepad to open it). You put it into a particular format that the inputting program on swgcraft understands.
Nothing on swgcraft is automated. SWGcraft is built by players for players and every single one of them had to get down on their hands and knees to skin that animal or milk that animal then open up their inventory to squint at the tiny letters copying to their notepad for the good of other players who use the info (in theory we are supposed to have a TON of people contributing and so not have to personally update every single animal resource on every planet every 2 weeks or so. In practice, on bloodfin, there are about maybe 5-6 of us who do it on a regular basis - we are maybe lucky to have so many who do so, and even saying that, our listings get out of date).
