i was curious as to how you file your DNA when in the field? You cant rename your DNA nor can you rename your DNA templates so when you open your inventory you have to examine each of the dna to get a good count of which types you have. You can somewhat keep it under control using backpacks as pockets for seperating them as you sample, but that takes up extra slots. Maybe theres like some unbelievalby easy way of keeping track of them and im missing it? (not a pen and paper)
That being asked, i think a good feature request would be to be able to rename DNA samples and templates so when i have 4 snakes, 3 monkeys and 2 cats; i can name them accordingly so i dont have to keep examining each of them because when you have 35-40 dna samples in ur inventory and 40 or so in your back pack its a hassle to keep up with them. I know you can see what they are when crafting, but id prefer to have quick inforation access from the inventory window so i can get a count. Even if the dna type was listed in the mouseover it would save some time.

DNA cant really be filed....in my house I keep a pack for high-quality DNA like MH and MR, and a pack for low quality DNA like HP CBD etc. Having the DNA donor creature list on the name of the sample is already one of our top requests to devs.

ah i see, i guess i misunderstood what that because i checked the list before i posted the idea.
maybe this means im on the way to being a good BE? lol
I am using a medical facility and im using packs for seperation but the house is full, all the more reason to want this feature more. Now i need to put up a house for more storage.

Before the vendor nerf, I used my storage vendor. A guildie sold me factory crates of backpacks, and I would name the backpack of the creature, e.g. "Merek Harvester" and then put upto 20 samples into each and then store on my vendor. I would avoid putting more than 20 samples per container because if you're like me and have a crap load of stuff in your inv, you wouldnt want to have to drop stuff just to pick up some samples.

Actually, when I go out to collect samples, I start with an empty backpack and fill it with the type of DNA I'm looking for then name the pack for that type..ie voritor dasher, MR etc
Anyother type of DNA I collect stays in my general inventory to be put in the packs made for them or in "general junk" pack for experimenting later.
Its getting to where I'm going to have to make a house over for DNA/pet making only. I'll be glad when the housing changes go into effect next week.

The system that I use is, I tried to acquire as many satchels as possible (these are the lootable bags off humaoid npc's) they can hold 20 samples and be renamed to what you are hunting...the reason i go with these is that they can be stored in your backpack, while player made packs have to stay in your main inventory...the trick to having good control is to place the dna in the bag as u sample it...this gives you the ability to not mix and know where you stand, cause the bag tells you how many you have at the moment...then I store the bags in my storage vendor and remove them when i need them...it's very nice when you look in your vendor and see....15 Merek Harvesters 3 Mutant rancors 7 arch.... blah blah blah

I guess im going to have to come up with some xp for a vendor somewhere, really dont have any to spare on it, but i guess its a must. Ive also got to put up a small house just for sample storage, beeen delaying it, but now that ive got some workind recipes and know exactly what dna i need to go get it will help out alot.
