I've been trying my hardest for the last few days to try and hire any hunter for sizeable quantities of meat. It's impossible. Even when I say any kind of meat with high OQ/PE.
How do you get your meat? I know I should wait for a good spawn but unless I've mastered Ranger I don't think I will be able to get any in 20k+ stacks.

This is a link to the 'rangers for hire by galaxy' thread over in our forum. Feel free to contact the rangers in your galaxyon this list-- they wouldn't have added their names to it if they didn't welcome the opportunity to do business with you.
And while we don't like it when trade requests are posted to our forum (couldn't help but notice your own 'this isn't a trade forum' sticky), we encourage you to visit our little corner of the boards with any other questions you might have. Good luck to you!

Many of us work primarily for chefs, docs, and armorsmiths because they contact us, either through tells or mailing lists (if they have them). (I can't speak for everyone, but a lot of hunters who deal in large stacks of resources don't shop them around-- we have a good idea who they'll be going to before we start the hunt.) I've never been contacted by a Bio-engineer, but I'd be more than happy to work something out with one if they did. A lot of the rangers I know feel the same way. Many of us aren't really sure what you guys need, though, so by all means let us know.

For the nutrient supplements we need ANY kind of meat with high OQ/PE which is why you rangers can still work for us when herb/avian meat drops aren't great.
Personally I need it in large stacks. I've talked to a lot of people on my galaxy Bria, and hopefully something will work out. My IGN is Kayta there if you know anyone yourself. It would be great to have a reliable supply of meat from anyone.

Its tough to get people to hunt for things given our margins. But the one thing I'd suggest is that the easier you make it on hunters, the better the chance is that they'll hunt for you. Specifically:
- tell that exactly what you want (i.e. the planet, spawn name, creatures to kill to get it). Don't make them guess, or have to do the legwork.
- tell them exactly how they'll get paid and make it easy for them
- avoid putting lots of limitations on stacksize, the more limitations you place, the more risk the hunter has (i.e. what if they come just short of what you want after hours of hunting?)

I find now even when people are spamming at cnet offering to hunt the second you tell them exactly what you want they tell you they'll think about it and you never hear from them again. I think there are lots of people who like the idea of making money hunting and few who actually do it.
I might just go ranger, stock up on a mil of resources, go back to BE, yada yada, every weekend. Bleah.

Wait till you get a good spawn of dath carny - people will be dropping 100k stacks of it on your vendor like they can loot them off Meatlumps =)

Chef and docs seem to lock up the bigger guys whenever there's a good spawn. What I tend to do is look for people selling meat on the bazaar and when I see someone selling a few thousand or more, especially of something I like at a reasonable price I email them. "Hell, I bought xxxx from you on the bazaar for x cpu. I just wanted to let you know that I'm buying xxxx for y cpu (usually a higher price) delivered to my vendor."
I do that with 3-4 people and over a weekend I'll collect 50-60k of meat. Then, keep track of those people. Let them know that a spawn has changed and that you're now buying it.
It helps if you can make a splash in the market at first. I did it with a spawn that was okay for chefs and good for BEs. Chefs were advertising 30 cpu for it, I started buying it for 35 cpu. That got some attention and I managed to turn that into several 100k stacks of different meats at 20-25 cpu.
So, two ways to go about it that I've used. Good luck!

The meat we need most is any kind of meat. It needs OQ,PE, and FL. OQ is the most important (50%), PE is next (30%) and FL is the least important (20%).
We also need insect meat, herbi meat, domestic meat, carni meat with the same stats.
Other things we need include:
scaley hide (OQ)
avian bones (OQ)
animal bones (OQ)
any hide (OQ)
Dath insect meat (OQ, PE)
As someone else seaid, the cool think is that when avian and herbi have run dry, we normally have some kind of meat, hides, or bones that we'd like to get.

I would also suggest hunting with a friend (preferably one who could harvest)... this way you could get some decent missions and both of you could harvest the resource ... therefore doubling the amount you harvest each time. remember to use your veghash!

WHen you group you end up havesting less per person. Last time I checked you need three people in the group that can harvest to get more than one person alone.
Depends on the group. I believe the reduction is 40% when grouped. So, if two people with similar harvesting skill are grouped, they will get a little more when working together. However, if a master ranger were to group with a novice scout, they would most likely harvest less than the ranger could get alone.
However, there are other things to consider. Even if there is large difference in harvesting skill between two group members, the speed with which they can kill and collect resources may balance it out. So really it all depends on who is in your group, what goals you consider reasonable, and how much value you place on teamwork/camaraderie.

Cool. I never tried to figure out the exact numbers or look at the other variables. Just looked at the final outcome.
Thanks
