Thread: Centralised Thread for Research into Bio-Engineered Pets
The purpose of this thread is highlight key research
that has taken place in the pet creation field. You should refer to these
posts as evidence when making statements regarding pet creation issues.
This thread will be dynamic and I will try to keep it as up-to-date as possible.
Keep in mind, every piece of research ever done will not be listed here as it
may be inconclusive, incorrect, out of date or irrelevant. If you would
like to list a piece of research here, please PM a link. I will not be
overly critical of selection, so feel free to send me links. Also don't
feel that this list is complete, people are constantly finding new things out
about the pet creation system and that is why our profession is so much fun.
Sampling Rates with Increased Inventory - As much as we like to think that
the devs have stealthy nerfed our ability to mask scent and that we have
significantly reduced sampling rates over the 60 item limit,
ArthurDentOnBria proves otherwise.
Creature Special Attacks - Research conducted by

lists all possible creature specials, their effects and ones that cannot be
pushed through into your clones.
CL Calculator - Important research
conducted by
ZardoZap, with support from blue glowie
NancyJ,
helped create a formula for predicting the CL of a creature. It isn't 100%
gospel but it's very interesting and basis for my research into light armour.

Attempted CL10 with Light Armour by
Zadokk - I tried to get light armour (and also 60% kinetic
) to stick on a CL10
pet. My investigation showed that light armour adds about 10 levels to
final pet when light armour sticks. Final conclusion is that light armour
may be able to stick onto a CL12 pet but no lower.
Ancient Bull Rancor DNA -
ArthurDentOnBria and
Lammergeier investigated the effects of using Ancient Bull Rancor DNA in a
DNA template. The Ancient Bull Rancor is CL98 and its DNA was sampled on
the Test Centre during a particulary buggy session. The result is a pet
with sub medium armour that is sub CL70. Also shows that stats cap at
1000.

Effects of Psychological Experimentation -
PlainWhiteSocks noticed that experimenting on the psychological pool can
actually lower the creature level of a pet. His evidence showed this to be
as much as 5 levels.
Proof that vulnerabilities in clones do NOT equal -99
- As many had suspected,
Halthron and
droid327 stumbled upon proof that resists in clones do not always equal -99.
Although vulnerabilities from wild creatures do -99, vulnerabilities in cloned
pets may be as high -1 which spells disaster for those trying to squeeze
vulnerabilities out of our clones.
What does "to-hit" do? -
ArthurDentOnBria lead an investigation into the controversial "to-hit" value
and its function and importance.

Ranged Damage is almost certainly Energy damage - After research,
ArthurDentOnBria concluded that ranged damage is almost certainly energy
damage.
