What do they do? Can I tame higher Level pets? can I also call them?

For the most part, it gives you an increased chance to tame wild critters. Since +taming vicious still seems to affect control, I assume through the old "need at least 15% chance to tame to control" rule, it has some limited usefullness for that as well, mostly at the higher end since I've never heard of a CH having problems calling lower level pets that were vicious. Over cl 63 or 64 right now, you need to be a wookie or have CH tissues to call aggressive pets.

oh crud i dont wanna be that high level of a CH anways. I want two rad gurrecks to follow me around

BE gurrecks aren't aggressive, you shouldnt have any problems with them, so long as you have a max level creature skill high enough.
