Thread: Storing Pets
OK I understand as a novice CH we get to hold two pets in our Datapad, and call only one at a time. Does that mean we cannot store them anywhere else? I have to just work on the two pets I have and if I want to switch to something else then I need to release one?
Also I'm halfway to my first skill - should I take Empathy first?
Yes.
Ahhhh - o.k. I'll expand on the comment a little.
You only get the two. They only store in the datapad. If you wish to tame another one, you must release one as you may only have two tamed pets at one time.
I found one I really liked, Corellian vynock and kept it and let it grow. I just tamed and released for awhile since the only way to get experience is by taming or fighting with your creature. Fighting with a bab is a badddddd idea - they die very quick and you'll feel sad.
After it was fully grown I went off to find another creature I liked, a swamp gurrcat this time. I let it grow and then released the vynock because I wanted a cu pa, which I now have growing in my datapad.
I put my first points into empathy because with it you get Trick 1 which will heal mind wounds on your pet and there is nothing worse than an injured pet spamming "Binky wants to play" (yes I named my pet Binky - you want to make something of it??) - anyway - and not being able to have it play. Cause it just keeps spamming it until you put it away.
Next I will put points into Empathy 2 'cause I want more stored pets. Then I'll go to work on the first level boxes.
This isn't original - it was a suggestion by another CH that made it long before me. Just passing on the suggestion I found useful.
I am in the process of opening a shop and I had a question. I mean at times it is difficult to keep up with all the changes. Anyway, I believe that clones in a house (used as animated furniture) are now safe from both Taming and Sampling. This is correct, right?
Now this one is a bit different. What if I want to keep a backpack full of different types of clones in my house in order to show customers what they are like? Will someone be able to access my backpack in my house and Sample or Tamethe clones? I'm hoping the answer is no, I just want to make absolutely sure before I go ahead and do all of this. It would be nice just pulling the bag out of my storeroom and showing the customer a Blurrg or a Ronto without having to make them each and every time.
Thanks...
House pets can indeed no longer be sampled or tamed. To my knowledge other people cannot access containers in your house, even people you've given admin rights to. I have a bag with display pets out in my house, and I've had no troubles.
Good luck with your business!
I too was concerned about this, and my partner CH is an admin of the house. While admin he can access and place stuff and train them. That helps so that he can sell a pet and train em on the spot while i'm out in the wild getting more DNA - I just keep some precrafted ones in bags and some on display. So when they fixed the exploit the CH's were doing to our display models, we tested it out by removing him from the admin list.
Results:
1) Display models - not tamable, not sampleable, not storable. (by him as a non-admin)
2) Cargo Pockets & Containers - not even openable. He couldnt even see what was inside to attempt to bring it out, train it in there, or sample its dna.
So - if they cant see the contents of your travel packs(and non-admins can not) - the bagsdo work well as a secure storage medium.
Hope those tests helped.
