Hi, I'm only a week old MBE and I have made an aweful lote of bad pets in that time Now i made some nice/reasonable ones in high 30s and 40s but this is first one that ive had light stick on under 35.

I showed it to a CH in my guild and he said it wasnt very good.

Now i realise it would have been better if the HAM was upside down if you get what i mean but that was pretty much what i could get out of it. Cant figure out why a 9k HAM pet with light armour is bad.

Tips/opinions pls how to make 1st or 2nd gen light armour pets better than this at low lvls?

I'm guessing this is Delirious Merek Avenger DNA. Try using harvestor to get 60% Kinetic and a better HAM. For PvE, you really don't want to have a high mind. Obviously this pet isn't going to PvP anytime soon with vulnerability to energy. Most of the hits a pet takes are to its health and action, and health is still in the majority there. I typically don't go over 5k Mind when making a PvE pet, and that is sometimes too much. Even with a lopsided HAM like 12k/8k/4k Health will still hit 0 before Mind or Action does.

Don't forget healing mind in battle is extremely easy for a CH. Back in my days of CH I'd have a macro /tellpet follow; /pause 1; /tellpet trick2; /pause 1; /tellpet attack. That will pull a pet out of battle for a second, heal their mind and send them back in.

Its always good to know CH tricks to convince your customers why your pets are really good.

It really depends on what this beast is for. Think of it in terms of tradeoffs. If this pet is for PVE, I think most people would like to trade some of that HAM in mind and action and boost the resists and/or damage a bit. If it's for PVP then I think most people would like to trade off all three HAM values and instead get some better energy resist and damage. And since specials don't seem to affect CL, I think most people would prefer 2 specials.

The sort of template I usually use is to put some really nice dna with high fortitude (for armor), high kinetic, and high ham values into physical and prowess, and then put some somewhat weaker dna (maybe CL 20-30) into mind, and something incredibly weak (CL 10-20) in psychology. Then in aggression I'll put something with high fortitude that has good damage and specials I like. Then I'll experiment in physique until I get armor, and stop, and depending on whether this creature has energy vulnerability or not I may put some exp points into aggression (be careful here, it can push the CL up in a hurry). The key here is to know how high you can boost the damage without going over CL 35, and to put dna with high enough fortitude in slots 1,2,5 so that you get the armor to stick.

This sort of arrangement will result in a nice tiered ham like 10k/7k/5k and should give you nice 50%+ resists and specials depending on what you put into that 5th dna slot.

Well I recycled it after considering your advice and came out with a CL 29 using aanother sample from a lvl 33 light i had that came out with no specials. All i added was a craggy bolma for some more fortitude and a sample from a lvl 38 Rancor i made that has stunning strike and KD as specials. Unfortunatly specials got screwed up but im happy with outcome.
