I was helping my Master BE friend get samples today, and she couldn't get a Peko Albatross sample over what seemed like 20-30 tries. Is it even possible?

I was able to take dna samples from a Peko Peko Albatross before the latest large patch. When I took those samples I couldn't get anything higher than above average quality dna. I could only sample once, and then would get aggro'd and die. After 4-5 trips I still couldn't get a high quality sample as a Master Bio-Engineer, so I gave up. After this latest patch I haven't seen an Albatross to try again. So it was possible before patch. After this latest patch I have no clue.

Someone really needs to anser this

There are days I'm glad I saved at least one of my CL100+ samples as trophies

after the latest patch we cant sample over lvl 70 creatures now...oh well

That lvl 70 cap is not true. I have sampled from enraged rancors (lvl 75) and mutant rancors (lvl 70) after the new patch. It's not easy to do but it can be done. I think the the dev's have either made it so we can't sample from kimo's becuase there going to or have increased it'screature lvl. I do not beleave it's lvl 70 anymore becuase a master bio-eng can't sample it in the wild or in the invintory. If somone can confirm that the kimo is still lvl 70, or if they have made it a higher lvl that would be great. But my feeling is on the next fix, or when they fix the creature templates for bio-eng the kimogilia will be removed.

Could it be that we can't sample from creatures that drop loot?

(I suppose it would be possible for BEs to grief Krayt hunts and such by sampling the Krayt)

Now that is an interesting point, there is the possibility that the samples are getting trasnferred via a bug into the loot inventory for the critter resulting in a failure. But also being lost in the process. Since all of the critters from CL60+ have item drops usually that might be a very real issue. However Voriteer lizards on Dantooine also have loot drops and so do faamba, I know i have sampled fambaa but not voriteer lizards. So I don't think that the loot issue is really a case, I think that we're just seeing a cap at around CL70-80 because that is the maximum levels that a CH can call (yes i know the taming cap is CL60 but hear me out a sec)

What I think we're seeing is the first edge of this mythical cloning system, it makes perfect sense that the cap is around CL70 as there is utterly no need to sample from higher level critters. In reguards to the taming level being at CL60 its odd that a CH can call a total of CL70, so i think that it's reserved for the clones we make so we have a true advantage over wild critters which don't exist in that CL60-70 range but can be created.

Kimo's are CL 90 and always have been.
