Thread: Species specific EGGS from lairs and proportional quantities
This kinda obvious really, it's not a totally 100% logical idea but it would certainly make sense from a gameplay point of view and also cut down on alot of aimless wandering around.
I do agree that eggs should be found in lairs and nests, what I don't agree with is how you have to walk over to every lair possible and search it with no idea of what you'll get. Ok fair enough there's a good chance nowadays that it'll have a few units of eggs inside but it still a very tedious method. What would be better is if only certain species had eggs in their lairs, and the type of animal has an effect on how many units of eggs you find in there. Thus you have eggs becoming a bit rarer again, but you'll be able to go directly to which lairs you KNOW will have eggs plus the overall quantities per lair could be increased to reflect that. Indeed some of us know where certain species spawn so it's a case of simply hanging around certain locations for a lair to appear.
There is in reality only three types of animal which produces eggs... insects, lizards and birds.
Thus lets take Tatooine as a prime example since it has a wide variety of many of these types of animals. On the lower scale you have rockbeetle lairs, these would yield maybe 3-8 units of egg from each one. Moving up the scale a bit you have dewbacks. Beinga large lizard they'd have some very large eggs which are equal to 10-20 egg unitsper lair. Getting even higher still you'd find the Giant dune beetles offering something around 40-60 units of egg per lair and right at the top you have a huge Krayt dragon lairs with their massive lizard eggs giving you around 70-90 units per lair. Now under this system indeed eggs are still rare however people know exactly what to look for once again rangers get at advantage since their tracking skills allow them to locate animals from a great distance which MIGHT indicate a lair as well. Since scouts and rangers are supposed to be resource collectors this system would appeal to their skills alot more and with such obviously high yields per lair you'd hopefully see egg appearing on the bazaar more regularly thus helpping the bio-engineers who don't go into the field as much.

While they are at it, how about add milk to the lairs of the mammals that wouldn't create eggs;.
Decent enough idea, but you should drop the lizard category and just make it reptilian. There are other reptile species that lay eggs, everything from turtles (torton?) to snakes to the reptilian flying types. All could lay eggs.
On another note, I think we should be able to get milk from mammal species as a harvest option on death. Because you would always get far more meat, hide, and bone from an animal than milk, this would make it possible to gather even if in small amounts and still be within the current game system. I don't think it should be something found in lairs or containers.

I agree with everything you mentioned. I also agree with your proposal, Tal-N. However I must say that this seems to already be the case, to some extent anyway. In my research, I've found that reptilian and avian lairs already give a much higher percentage of eggs than other creatures. I don't even bother checking lairs that aren't of those two types anymore, because most of the time I come away with "a live sample of creatures".
Some good places to test this out is at Corellia and Dathomir. Corellia has a large creature base made up of mammals. Dathomir is mostly reptiles and insects. Spend an hour or two running around search lairs, and I'll bet you find a higher percentage of lairs containing eggs on Dathomir then on Corellia. Of course, this may be attributed to it being a higher-level planet, who knows.
I'm not saying egg amount, I'm saying the % of lairs in which you find any eggs at all is higher in Dathomir. That's what lead me to believe it was already somewhat based on species. I have noticed that the amount of eggs you get per lair is higher on Dathomir than any starter planets. But again, I'm speaking of the % of lairs you come across that have any eggs at all. The following aren't exact numbers, but just an example to show what I mean:
- Dathomir: out of 100 lairs, 75 have at least 1 egg.
- Corellia: out of 100 lairs, 25 have at least 1 egg.
If this is what you were implying by your last post, then I apologize completely and obviously didn't understand it properly.
Eggs are like any other resources found as loot. It is scaled by planet.
I've gotten 1 out of 3 lairs to give eggs on Corellia (4-11 amount) on some days.
Ive gotten 4 egg types as well (eggs are like any resource and can have multiples per planet). I sell eggs a lot... but it is often hard to get a good quantity of them (forget about milk... I can find holocrons faster (current count 0 of each).
I think lair loot really needs to be looked at overall. It is weird and Counterintuative.
I don't see why eggs AND milk could not be harvested from appropriate corpses (or even live with scout /ranger skills?) Might want to work w/ chefs and Scout/rangers on this.
