Thread: DNA Sampling 4 and High Quality DNA
Well, I finally made it to DNA Sampling 4 and Cloning 4. Question I have now is what is the best way to get High Quality DNA? Do I go out and sample really big creatures? I've been sampling Voritors and Pikets on Dantooine, but only maybe 1 out of 10 samples is high quality. Does this change if I start to go after Rancors or bigger game? Will I have a better chance of getting High Quality DNA if I make a creature from my Above Average stuff, then sampling that?

You can get high or even very high quality DNA from anything.
Right now the Creature level you get the DNA from will determine how well the DNA works.
So the answer is that you do not have to go to a HIGH creature Level encounter to get High Quality DNA.
But then again if you dont go to one, then your High Quality DNA you do get will still be sub-standard.
And maybe just maybe they should make it so that Masters Fail to get samples alot less.
Actually i was going to suggest that masters have the ability to take two or more samples and simply merge them with semi-random results. This would mean that those people who want to sit in a lab could take junk dna and splice them together to try and come up with better overall stats. Given enough combinations they could start with junk dna and after many many combinations they'd come out with something of equal or better stats as a v. high sample that came from a high CL critter.
It might be worth me making a seperate topic to discuss that possibility cause the way things are going the 'lab rats' are going to be made extinct under the new system.
Well, first off, the "high quality" or "very high quality" or whatever are just labels. I think they are kind of an average of all the pair numbers, but that isn't what's really important anyway, the individual pair numbers are what's important. Sometimes you'll see like a "high quality" sample where every number is like 600-700 and that sample is basically crap. Much better if you had say an "average" sample where it had one really good 700-800 pair, and of course ideally you'd like to see a pair in the 800-900 range.
Secondly, high quality, low level dna is extremely useful, even when making the most powerful creatures. If you go out and sample durnis and gubbers or whatever, and get some really nice ferocity and psychology pair numbers, hold onto those, because CL level doesn't matter for those attributes, only the raw pair numbers do.
Thirdly, for the three HAM stats, you need high CL level dna, and high pair numbers in those particular attributes. So go out and keep sampling the big baddies for that, and keep the ones with the best HAM pairs.

I was out sampling some Anicient Grauls yesterday, that I used for cloning some Snorbals, the stats I got on them was very nice. The samples I got was some Very High Quality and High Quality and the best pair I got was 901+950.
What I get mad about is that when I create the DNA Template you can experiment, but you cant experiment when creating the creature...

However have you ever noticed that while you might have a fluke higher pairing in an above average sample that even then you end up with clones that are just below par than if you used v high quality samples with similar valued pairings. Some of us beleive that there is a certain amount of the other stats borrowed from each slot and throw into the final compile. Perhaps 90% of the stat the slot is for and 10% borrowed from the other stats which aren't.
I have to say that given the choice I typically throw away the above averag samples without looking at them because time and time again they give less than impressive results compared with a v. high quality sample.

You can experiment on the Template and the Creature right now. Not sure why your not getting the option on your creature end.
I think Tal-N is also right about the other stats, besides your pair, bleeding over a bit. It does seem that if I use a Very High Quality Sample with the same Pair stats and an Above Average, the creature made with the Very High Sample normally turns out a tiny bit better overall.
i remeber sampleing after i hit master be adn thinking to myself wow everytime i sample now its either above to high quality dna, there seems to be ahuge jump between dna 4 and master+35 or something i dont remeber but you will get some really good dna samples once you hit master adn i seem to be able to sample 5 or 6 times from one animal though i usually dont unless in doing a rush order. or makeing something for a guild mate. anyway good luck with the rest of your grind.
