Thread: Chicken pets?

This might be a known issue but i couldn't find it. Wife just started going up the BE tree and we've been noticing our pets are complete chickens and run away ALOT during a fight, so much so that we have to constantly tell the pet to follow and resend it in to attack.

This only happens with out BE pets, wild pets don't really seem to do this. Doesn't matter on body style either. We've tried it with snorbal, bol, picket, and a couple others. Is this a known bug or is there a stat that needs to be higher? I woulda guessed dependability but that's at 700ish on a couple of these pets if i remember right. Pretty sad when we send a level 10 wild caught gurrcat against a bantha and it fights to the death but a level 25 picket runs away after a few seconds.

Check the courage and dependability stats on the DNA when creating the pet; I have found an apparent correlation in their response to the intimidate types of attacks from mobs when a creature has a low dependability on creation.

This is a new problem that all pets are dealing with since the last patch. This is the biggest complaint on the CH boards. Many of those who complain do not use BE pets. It definately varies with the target creature, did not have a problem with a Mutant Rancor, but the Mites and Mereks drive me nuts. This is a dev issue.

Ok that's what i wanted to hear. Before I only realy ever used my dewback mount because he served a dual purpose and dewbacks have always been kinda flighty. I didn't honestly even think about checking the CH boards, figured it was a BE issue or me not knowing something i needed to.

Thanks

I'm not certain, but this may also have to do with the skin of the pet you are using. Creatures like the lizards tend to be very "touchy" when it comes to stuff like this. I can't actually recall a time where my little bunny (a squal) ran away in a fight, even when fighting things 2x his CL.

I'll second that CH thing. I have a razor cat who used to be my favorite tank. Now he runs away more than my GSPs of lower levels. I'm glad to hear this is a bug and not a " working as intended" issue. Thanks!

Nah, this is something that changed with the publish... and it's to the extreme.

It isn't the old run of the mill, cowardly pets, it's a new and horrible bug or "feature" that makes it quite stressfull to hunt with pets now (to say the least).
