Like a lot of people here on this forum I refuse to make schematics for chefs. That being said, last night a guy asked me to make some broad-spectrum nutrients for him. I told him my price of 40-45k per crate, depending onhow much I have to pay for the meat. He said that was too expensive and I said "Ok, find another BE to make it for you then." He then came back to me asking how much it would cost him per crate if he got all thesupplies himself. Well, I've never been asked that before. I thought about it and quoted him a price of 10k per crate. Now, I'm not giving him a schematic, yet in a way it feels like I am. I don't know if it's the right thing to do only charging him 10k per crate. But he's getting all the supplies, meat, flora, etc..... So my question is, should I go ahead and do these runs for this guy, which I will still make about 1.2 million for 6 runs of 20 crates, or should I tell this guy to piss off? I know he's getting an awesome deal, yet I'm still going to be making a good profit for basically just my factory time and nothing else. What do you guys think?

Not having to pay for or gather all that meat...sounds like a good business deal to me.

Aye, if its costing you nothing then thats acheap and easy bit of profit you are making... Some people aren't too bothered about money if they have a huge stash of gold, but I'm sure that if somebody made a proposal like this to me, I would be willing to accept it...
End of the day, do you think this is a greedy chef who wants cheap components? Or is it someone who you see that could become a future business partner...? Maybe when he wants more components he'l come back to you asking for your services... But then again, whether or not that is a good thing, depends on your own views
Personally i'd accept it, even though I have 1.3million credits (one-off loot sale
) in my bank, and I dont actually make or sell any Bio-Eng stuff, I would be willing to do this for the guy

This subject has been touched many times. It, perhaps, has been touched more than the everpopular 'nerf tka'or 'nerf CM' threads. Anyhoo, most selfrespecting BE's don't make schematics. If we do so, it removes one half of our usefulness. It is telling the rest of the game that our use in the game is only to make schematics and nothing more. I guarantee you this: go to a chef and ask him to make you a schematic for little to nothing. You will likely get a big fat 'LOL' or 'that'll be 10 million credits please.'

On Bria, the going rate for a crate of brandy is 250k. I've never seen it cheaper. I've seen brandy at 185 power for 20 minutes for 250k a crate, and I've seen the good stuff at over 400 power for 250k crate. At 40 crates a schematic, that is 10 million credits. And they want brandy for little to no cost. Get real, they are the greedy ones. I have a vendor FILLED with additives. It is on the map like my other vendors. I sell far more tanks and non-ch pets. That is, at least, something keeping me going in the game. Altogether, I may have sold 3 crates of additives.

I'm not giving/selling him a schematic. I'm going to be making the crates. He's just going to be giving me the supplies to make it for him. There's a difference there.
I think I'm going to do it too. The way I look at it. If I don't make some money off this guy then he's going to go to another BE that will either give himfree schematics or to someone that will be making the profit instead of me. Either way I look at it, I'll be making a good profit for just my factory time. Plus, it will give this guy an opportunity to find outhow tough it is to get good meat in large quanitities without payiing an arm and a leg.

Forgive my earlier rant. I just feel strongly about it. I understand what you are doing, and support it. At least youknow, however, what I don't support.

What your customer is doing is similar to going to a RL tailor with some nice cloth that he want's turned into a suit. He provides the material and the tailor creates the suit. That's a lot different than going to the tailor and asking for the detailed instructions to make the suit (aka a schematic). I see nothing wrong with creating the additives with resources he's given you.

I agree completely with KEVM here. i just got asked to make a shcematic twice last night. One guy got mad when i said 3 million and said he usually get thems for whatever he wants to tip the BE since it only takes like 5 minutes of our time. I think it would have taken a lot less than that, but that isn't the point. Chefs make a ridiculous amount of profit on their brandy, I am not about to help them out by providing schematics for them. I sell my medium additives for 45k a crate, so a full schematic is 1.8 million. So he asked me why i was charging him 3 million and I told him it was for MY SKILLS. If i just give away the schematics so he can increase his profits even more, BE's are already limited in our use I am not about to reduce it more. As far as making a factory run for someone whu brings me the resources. I would prefer not to, but i would do it. Let them find out how expensive meat can be.
