Howdy. I was thinking of going Master BE but was concerned that without some CH, the CL of the pets would be too limiting to protect myself. And that without a vendor machine, I'd either be penniless or relying on missions for cash (which gets too repetitive).

So what I came up with is MBE/Ch 0404/Pistoleer 0040/Artisan 0032. Viable?

That looks like a pretty reasonable template to me. You'll be able to control some pretty scary pets at that level, and with the artisan skills you'll be able to sell them. I get by ok with survey 2, although I definitely miss having survey 4, but no biggie. If it were me, the biggest problem I'd have with that template is the vendor capacity cap of 100 that you have with business 3, but unless you are a prolific seller that won't be a problem either.

Well how is BE when limited to CL10 pets? I have 2 concerns:

  1. With just Pistoleer 0040 will I have enough combat ability to survive?

  2. What's it like trying to find a CH to train my own pets?

Right now, I'm stuck between choices. I wasleaning towardsDroid Engineer but found that BE has more complexity and less harvester watching (I'd get to see more while roaming for DNA). Because of that I have Master Artisan. I was also thinking Master Smuggler but 2 hybrids eats a lot of SP (already have Pistol/Unarmed requirements).

Obviously, I'm confused as heck

Also, how bad is it without having a vendor/survey ability? I had considered MBE/Master Smuggler

If your looking to defend yourself, tka is much more viable 0020 is enough to speed cap fast vks whereas with pistol you would be quite slow (since u already have the unarmed requirements) the defense mods in pistoleer are nice but no use if your getting slapped around and not hurting them. If your very worried and dont want to get hurt you could grab some camo skills from ranger and never engage your enemy.

that's almost my exact template, although i have half as much CH and pistoleer to get merchant advertising 3 so i could register my vendors on the map. good money can be made that way. and i have yet to have a problem defending myself. granted it takes longer to kill things than someone with more combat, but i have gotten all my creature resources myself except for occasionally buying large stacks of meat for cheap when i'm desperate and don't have the time to hunt(read: lazy).

anyway, that template works out great for me and i love having more room to experiment with pets for myself.

anyway, my template is MBE, pistoleer 2/0/0/0, CH 0/0/1/2, merchant 3/0/0/0. however i am going to give up merchant soon to pursue CH further or possibly a combat profession. i've probaby had merchant for about 2-3 months and have already made enough money to retire that profession for now. i added all my big addative customers to my friends list and when i retire merchant i will let them know they can email me orders and that will still keep me making plenty of money.

For some reason I like 4 0 4 0 CH to be able to command the specials and embolden/enrage. I figured 2 pets at that cap ain't worth havin 2 out and I don'tneedto own that many. I do miss the guard and group commands andcan't train as mount.Too much of a hassle to have a MCH train them with all thecommands but I supposeyour way is nice with the lots of petsin datapad and training mounts.
