me too!

i totally love it. it's the most fun i've had since i started playing in the first beta. and i too love sampling mutant rancors. lots of times if i have nothing in particular to do, i'll go out sampling. even if i don't need their dna.

the pet making is the best part. and i feel proud that i know how to do it. not everyone who tries BE can figure it out. and they usually either give up or just make addatives and tissues. not that there's anything wrong with that. i'm just saying...i like that i figured it out. plus i love that i can make a pet for myself whenever i want. if i get bored with one type of pet, i just whip out another one. so much fun.

I have been playing bio-engineer since I qualified for it a few weeks after launch. I have seen the profession go from nearly useless, crafting items for professions that didn't exist in the game and searching for resources that were removed for the game in beta, to a very viable and profitable skill.

I can easily say I am the "oldest" bio-engineer in my galaxy.

I sell tissues to chefs and tailors.I don't sweat the credits however. I know that if I need money I can makea full run of chef tissues and havemore than enoughmoney to play with. I don't stress over filling every chef's order and I don't feel I need to go brokepurchasing the resourcesI need. If I have what I need I fill the order, simple enough.

I also make animals. When I make an animal for a first time pet owner I feel like I have really accomplished something. I had fun making the animal and now I am able to pass that fun onto another player. I didn't plop down a mineral harvester, make a schematic and turn on a factory that makes a trillion guns. I hand crafted this animal which is completely unique to every other animal I or anyone else has made or will make in the future.

I create my own game content. I am entrenched in a GCW with mutant rancors, and yes, I keep score. I go with a full set of mask scent clothes, jawa beer, and brandy. I wear no armor, no buffs, and no shoes. I have nothing in my backpack that can decay and I don't insure. If I feel real lucky I don't clone. Some days I can take out an entire lair of 5 muties and only die once or twice. Some days the rancors bite me in half every time I approach them. Regardless, I have a lot of fun doing it. Taking on mutant rancors is a challenge and I am up to it.

I genuinely love being a bio-engineer.

In spite of the fact that I like to point out BE shortcomings, I love it too. It is the only master profession I have ever had. I refused to do the holo grind, because I thought it was destroying the game.

I've also spent time playing the game, doing quests, exploring, driving around just for fun. Before mounts came out, I once walked from Theed to Moenia (only cloning twice). I stumbled on the Imperial Retreat by accident and felt like I had made a major discovery. I joined the FS stampede when the new pathway was released. Surprisingly, my explorations made put me right in line for "glowy" with only one quest. I really didn't want to become a Jedi Knight, but I did want some force enhancement to my mask scent that seems to break among the mutants. I also hoped for an unlocked character, since my BE has all his skill points used up in BE-related needs. Flying is a good release for me, since it doesn't require my precious BE skill points, and since it allows me to engage in combat on a fair footing for a change.

I've watched SWG go through some more subtle changes. Dialogue has gone from horrendous to okay to fairly good. The JTL dialogue is the best in the game. It is too bad we only see a small fraction of it all, since we are aligned to faction and squadron.

I have one account and play on one server. I chose BE because it looked to be complex enough never to truly be mastered. In that it has never disappointed me.

I'll probably stay a BE until it can no longer support me.

My initial intention was to make some good pets for my CH toon and drop it after I make enough. But I ended up dropping CH (not entirely yet) instead of BE (I made an alt for CH) I never thought pet making would be so much fun.

I will not be dropping BE anytime soon.

I'll be watching closely for your "I'm quitting BE damnit, this profession sucz" post next week Just kidding, welcome to the fold.

If that happens, it will be with a trembling fingers to click that "surrender skill" button. It took me 7 months to master BE and going through that grind again doesn't seem all too attractive

I feel the same way as Spazzers.
I've given away well over a virtual ton of pets to newbie people that have never played with a pet. I've even created some pretty good pets and just gave them away to the first person I saw with a Master CH title on.

I've destroyed at least twice as much DNA as I've used. I used to wander Endor enjoying the scenery and sampling different things just to see what stats a particular spawn has. I just genuinely like sampling stuff. One night I even spent an hour sampling chubas to see what the highest hardiness on a chuba was.

When I first started the game, we didn't have vehicles or mounts, but I wanted to see all the planets. So I travelled to each planet and walked between the farthest two starports, just to see different landscape features. Later when I got the MBE title I went back and took revenge with my needle on all the critters that chased me.

I've had many great experiences as a BE, either exploring the class or exploring the worlds. At this point I'd switch to a different game before I switched classes.

Will you be publishing your results in a peer-reviewed journal?

I was thinking today that it would be nice if there were comparable metallurgist or other science type classes that let you look under the hood of game mechanics the way we do and tinker with them. There's a crying need for more raw science in SWG. Maybe social scientists who look at server-wide trends as their gameplay--economists able to get some data on sales and "craft" sales reports. (I have heard a rumor from the sandbox that the Master Demographer/Master Image Designer will be the uber template after CU goes live...).

Anyway, although I've never made much money as a BE and have sold a grand total of 1 factory run at full price (since early August when I mastered), there is still so much I need to learn about pet making and I have a done of fun doing it. Bioengineer has kept me in the game.

I think I still have the tally sheet in one of my many many many piles of notes. If not then I can always repeat the exercise. Maybe with Durni's this time, they're pretty useless anyway.

I love it so far. Just printed out all the stuff on how to make a pet.....WOW one of the most complex aspects of the game! I look forward to sorting it all out and making some sweet pets.

"Fold" I like that. What a nice term for mass insanity.
