Thread: Nothing sampled gives more than 350xp per?

Well, I've been DNA sampling for 3 days, and all I can say is what a waste of time for a profession that should be good but is totally rubbish and has no point.

Im now still in DNA2. Is there anything in SWG that gives decent xp? Best I've found so far is 300 per? ANy info would be great.

While I'm posting, a few rants - not that I'm gonna stay BE or anything, but after you play class after class in this game you get a feel to how it stacks up against others...and BE is just above that pit of hell called DE.

Food enhancers are total rubbish.

Cloth enhancers:

Taming: Totally worthless - at 150 taming you can tame not a single creature more than you can at MCH.

Mask scent: Worthwhile but only for leveling DNA xp for BE. Kinda ironic, 117 means you can walk upto a kimo...not that you can sample it or anything tho. Rubbish.

Bleed, melee etc: Haha, hmm, no bleed v decent armor...no bleed v decent armor....gimme a break. Useless.

Pets:

Kaduu - yes, sensible, I suppose a BE can scrounge a living off selling these as mounts.

All the rest - pointless, utterly except for house ornamentation. All extinct pets annihilate them all bar the gurreck, which is excellent PvP. Kimos I wont even start on - I have 151 taming and can I tame it? NO, course not. Nerfed.

So in the end, you have a class that makes...low end mounts and gurrecks. Sorry, slightly better ones than a MCH can tame. Wow. This could of been a nice class. Needs a total rewrite though.

Anyhow, sorry bout that, my origional question is still valid, if anyone would be kind enough to help me out of this hellhole called DNA XP!

Go sample pickets on Dantooine. Generally, the larger the critter the more XP you get for it. You only get 400-500 for each one (depending on the size). I got over 600 for a slinking voritor hunter, but I'm not sure you'll be able to sample it at all unless you already have DNA 4. You need 10,000 + 30,000 + 50,000 + 80,000 = 170,000 DNA xp for master. That's only 340 critters at 500 apiece...or 425 at 400 apiece. If you're going to be a Jedi, you must first learn patience.

Ah, nice. I got only 300 odd for bols, I'll give them a shot then - ty!

After 10+ classes, you tend to lose patience btw

I found a pack of Grauls and sampled them for 347 xp per.. this helped to get to lvl 2 quick. But I also did lay on the ground with an instant incapp - it's surprising how fast you go down when1 ancient graul and 3 regsgrauls gang you!

Just for others...

Picket Longhorns are now the best I've found @ a little over 400xp per. Thanks to the guys above for posting, and do post if you've found better!

Try Horned Voritor Lizards. I have been getting close to 600 xp on these. It would be nice if you could use the dna sample from a level 50 creature when making a Gurreck, but it appears that is not the case. Anyways, it is not bad for levelling and they do not DB.

Hope this helps

Watch out though, horned voritor lizards poison.

I personally spent all of my DNA time (1-4) doing Pikets on Dant. Fierce Piket Protectors got me 496 or so exp, which was nice.

Some of the varieties of Snorbal on Lok give out nice xp... also Bols, Pickets and most the stuff on Dantooine. They are non-agro which is nice.

Piket longhorns are the best, at 436 xp per, non aggro, non db, and VERY common on dantooine. I take a couple piket missions and sample everything on my way to my missions. Took me a couple hours to go from dna 2 to dna 3 1/2.

Bull Rancors give me 750xp at the moment. Too bad I'm already a master. Any chance I could have sampled these at lower DNA skill levels? I was too scared to try.

To get to DNA 4 I stayed on Dantooine and pricked Pikets and Bols. My technique was this. Auto-walk (keep shift key down) slowly toward one and keep walking the whole time. At exactly 15m, start sampling and immediately select the next piket. As soon as you get the success/fail message on the first, hit the sample macro again (it will do the next piket). Keep walking the whole time to avoid the delay animation on starting and finishing the sample; also helps you run/fight faster if they aggro. Just walk in circles around the group of pikets until you've sampled each one three times, then move to next group.

I can now get 10 rancor samples (bull, youth, and normal) in one shot with this technique.

Also, while Ranger is a useful profession while mastering (I use areatracking a lot), Carbineer is not. I learned this the hard way.

I was on Endor yesterday and tried out a pack of regular Blurrgs. They were giving around 540 xp per sample. They appeared to be a nice level 50 non-db/non-agro creature. I cleared out the entire pack without 1 agro, although I am level 4 DNA.

To get to level 4 DNA I mostly used Picket Longhorns. Nice 11K missions that you can get between 350-450 xp per sample. If you cannot get the Longhorn missions by yourself ask some people around the mission terminal to group with you for long enough to push the level of the mission up to the point that you can get the Longhorn missions.
