Im with you. Some ppl are laboring under the delusion that the Gurreck or Rancor somehow provides superior DNA. This has never been explained or substantiated, and so I continue to use Blurrgs myself.

I noticed the Mind pair of stats on Gurreck DNA seemed to be higher more often off the Gurreck than the other two. And the Aggression stats of the Rancor are good. Blurrg is good for filling in the blanks.

i used to do this, but its just a waste of time. sampling DNA from wild creatures really is much quicker and is much less work.

I generally do both. I head to Endor and sample blurrgs till I'm full up. (I sort them in the wild keep any really good samples in a special bag and turn the rest into blurrge templates) Then I head home, do my harvestor runs and sit down to do some crafting. I have all these insufficient samples turned into templates now. Why not do concentration? Seem better than just throwing the DNA away. Especially given how many good creature I want to make.

reasons i stopped doing it:

1) theres no sure way to get a good sample out of a clone. you are more likely to get a bad sample than a good one, and if thats the case, you wasted the resources.

2)its boring to me. i felt like i was grinding, and after reaching master i didnt want to anymore.

3) i get much better samples from wild sources. i dont use anything as low lvl as blurrg DNA in my high-lvl clones because they dont yield the kind of results i want.

im not bashing anyone who does it. you make a good point about throwing away DNA, but i havent had to throw any DNA away since i just use the lower quality CL70+ DNA in lower lvl creatures. im just presenting support for the alternative. thingsthat i wish someone told me back wehen i was doing it.

It seems like a waster of resources. (Not that we didn't all be experts at getting meat on our way to master) Am I missing something?

The blurrg is bugged and untamable, it also used to be CL35 until recently when it was increased to CL50 but naturally the cloning treewasn't updated.

Sorry for being dense Tal-N, but when you say the cloning tree wasn't updated, do you mean the description or the actual produced critter. If the former thats just a little annoying, if the latter then it obviously makes a difference. I've make one Rancor with blurrg DNA, it was better than the wild one but not as good as I wanted it to be. I used the best materials I've been able to lay my hands on but the flora I used wasn't as good as I like. Not sure if I should worry about the blurrg DNA or just concentrate on getting better flora. (Not that any is avaiable on my server right now)

Unless I'm mistaken blurrgs, gurrecks and rancors are all level 50. The lowest amount of resources it takes to make one of these is the blurrg which only takes 40 meat/ 40 flora. The gurreck takes 70 meat and 70 flora. The Rancor takes 80 meat and 70 flora. Is there a reason why people do DNA concentration on anythingother than Blurrgs? Maybe I'm missing something butuntil I have DNA with an 1800 pair I don't see why I would make a Rancor. It seems like a waster of resources.
