Thread: Old CL100+ dna samples.. will you use them in the new system?

Now i have a handful of dna samples saved as trophies from when we could dna sample from Kimogila and Peko Albatross ect.. at the moment they aren't really that valuable since they're from days before I was a master so they're above average at best. Also having used one of these before on a rancor I didn't get all hat great results than if I had used a high quality sample from a CL75 rancor. However, under the new system I suspect they might just help to make a singluar one of a kind ultra clone. Obviously it couldn't be used however imagine it as a collectable! A one of a kind clone which could be sold for a fantastic amount for people who have money to blow on rare and unique items.

I haven't totally decided on this yet and frankly I intend to know the new system more so I can predict the results however even if the system means that an average sample from a CL145/CL150 species gives you a CL75 clone (ie. 50% of the max) then that would make for a very unique clone. Alternatively there is a possibility that using the peko albatross dna I can give a normal clone 100% kinetic resistance and heavy armor. Then I'd just need to stick some weaker dna in to balance it a bit lower.

On the whole I dunno until I see the system, but thats cause I don't have much of this dna saved up. If some of you have similar samples what are you planning on doing with them?

on the contrary, tal, they may be extremely useful. some people might want very high damage, but low HAM to reach a certain CL. 1000 HAM 1000 dmgCL 30. orthe other way around: 15000 HAM w/ armor 30 dmg CL 30.

if we have this kind of flexibility, those samples could be very valuable. we may not know till the changes come though.

Hmmmm.

I have some Peko Peko Albatross and Kimo dna still hanging around as decorations in my house. I might end up tempted into using it, but not before I knew everything it was capable of. Do you think this will end up like the old Baby dna?

That could be very interesting.

I'm kind of thinking that since our newfound abilities of giving pets the skills and resists of the DNA sampled, that old DNA may not do us much good. Current DNA just stores the numerical stats with no data containing those specials/resists. We may need to use post-patch DNA only to make pets under the new system.

My thoughts exactly, Oct. I've got a lot of really good DNA stockpiled now for those deluxe gurreck orders, and based on what I've read about the new system, the old DNA will be pretty useless (since it doesn't track specials, armor, resists, etc). I'll be using it all up in the next few weeks (I'm gonna make myself a darn good kitty before the new system goes in).

I personally think the old stuff will be useless, but based on the way they've "grandfathered" the old probots and whatnot, I'd not be surprised if they followed precendent. I guess we'll see

DNA doesnt have a "source" stat anymore?

im pretty sure its all linked guys. if the DNA knows the source, it knows the source's stats.

Well it's possible that the new dna systen is retroactive so it'll update the current dna to include the stats, as someon else said it does have a record of what it came from afterall. Personally I'm expecting a nice bug on release which will allow us to stick that dna for peko albatross into a clone giving it heavy armor. Then you sample it several times and get several more samples which can provide heavy armor. Since there's very little chance that any such dna like this is on the TC then I don't think it's possible for them to see if there's a loop hole to allow that or not Of course now I'm saying that they might try to find a solution but then again since when did our designer ever read these forums.. neglect has it's benefits lol

Hmm, I haven't started collecting DNA on TC yet. I've been more concentrating on tryng to build travel money. I should gather a few samples before the changes go on TC to see what happens.
