Thread: Research Center???? What is this that I keep reading?
Cities with a lot of crafter residents will sometimes buy this title. From what I understand it is very costly to the city, like 80K a week or something like that??? Anyway, basically what it does is decrease failure rates and increases success rates. I don't have the exact numbers, nor haveI tried crafting in a research center, so I can't tell you how beneficial it is. Hope this helps.
Noble
it is expensive, 80k a week sounds right for research center, though i think it's as much as120k a week for manufacturing center.
the mayor ofa player city can change this specialization as it fits the populace. and, many player cities will advertise their specialty in hopes of bringing in new citizens or revenue.
So, do you have to be a citizen of that city to gain those benefits, or is it automatict just for being there?
Thanks!
Tal-N is just refererring to his trick labratory...
He setup his shop, and crafting stations inside the cities cloning center. He had screen shots of it somewhere on these boards. So...
His city is classified as a Research Center
His work area, is the city Cloning Center, instead of his home
To get the bonuses mentioned above, all you have to be, is in within city limits of a city, that is classified as a Research Center. Most cities like this, will typically have a public building (City Hall or a PA Hall) with highly rated crafting stations.
Research Center - Raises the experimentation success rate which also raises the percentages in experimentation.
Manufacturing Center - Raises the assembly success rate.
There is another one which combines both Manufacturing Center and Research Center like Industrial District but you must be a master politician to get it and it's like 220k / week.
As the mayor of my town. Let me answer this.
A manufacturing center lowers the chances of a critical failure by 10%. Which is a bigger difference then it looks. A research center trades this for a bump of 15% to your experimentation. So thats why Tal-N says that he gets much better Pet Stim B's in a Research Center. He risks a critical but the pay off is much nicer. One of the things that was removed, no idea why, was a master politician could give a town both specializations at the same time. I forget what it was called when it had both. But that has since been removed.
I have few crafters in my town, 1300m from Dantoine Imperial Outpost. But since i finance our town and run it. I gave myself the research center to help the few crafters i have. It bumped my manufacturing town cost of 230k toa research center costing 300k per week. An amount, strangely, i think is worth it for our weaponsmith and myself.
