Is it possible to get it from them? I found one on Dathomir yesterday and spent a lot of time and money reinsuring my items to sample him. I was able to get 5 attempts in but they were all failures. And for all you get mask scent or die types...I do not have exploration and therefore no mask scent I also dont use mask scent clothing...How you ask? Drive up to them let them incapp you ( they dont db) and if they stay standing over your body then they will not attack you when you get back up. I was able to stay close to this one for 5 minutes till he got to far away from me and went aggro again.
So yeah back to the original topic. Can you sample the Ancient Bull Rancors on Dathomir?

No. I think if a creature has above 16k ham you can't sample them. The highest I've been able to sample has been 14k.

It appears that currently you can't sample anything above CL 75... check this thread for more info

Ok I had read this thread earlier.....new question then. How do I know what the creatures HAM and/or CL is? I am not a master scout or ranger so when I examine them it doesnt tell me....perhaps I need to invest in the strategy guide.

Finding the HAM is easy. Just target the creature and put your cursor over the HAM bars. It gives the exact values. CL would only be available to a Master Scout(at least I think they can, if not it would be in the Ranger tree). Or you can look on many of the creature web sites out there.
