I have tried, and crawled and run and well I am sick of stupid Mutant Rancors that can smell you from yards away.

I am looking for what are the next best creatures to sample? At least ones that are reasonably ok do do. Like Rancor Youth I can do all day.

Also whatever planet they are on would be helpfull.

I would go to endor and try and find mantigrue's various types .... and some of the upper merriks such as Harvestors and Battlelords and some arachne queens and widows if you are lucky and BArk Mite Burrower queens and normal ones..... with maybe a arachne warrior thrown in for good measure(nice specials)

the previous poster sumed up the alternitives quite well, the other option would be to get explor 4 and get a set of +25 mask sent cloths up. I dont have much trouble geting close to things with the extra mask sent including mutants. also try aproaching from behind as that usaly works.

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead

Yeah. For sampling Mutant Rancors or anything aggressive for that matter. The second you have been sniffed out stop moving. They USUALLY don't aggro on you (not perfect though) and then just wait until you can mask scent again. You may have to do this several times before you get close enough to sample...but remember you can sample, I believe, at 10m away. I managed to get into a pack of Mutant Rancors this way and fully sampled 2 of them for 10 total samples until one killed me. Also...SOMETIMES...they don't DB you. I don't know why but they don't and this works to your advantage cause when you get up you are right in the middle of them...just mask scent and don't move and sample away as long as they let you.

Hope this helps....this is from only 1 experience sampling them.

well mutant rancors are hard to get usally best when tehy just fight it out in a group and just wait till they are done fighting then try to get a sample from them and or just run back and forth till your not seen. i got 1 veryhigh and 4 high samples by doin this which i am a new at bio myself i did master wed 30mins till mid night which i was happy and the next day was making some cool pets still tryin to get it down. so far when i just made a grual just out of mutant dna 1veryhigh in the first slot and the high in the rest i got a lvl 72 pet with insane stats 12k to 13k in ham, which was cool but no one can use when it reaches lvl max for which im mad about i think it should have a cap on the lvl that a person could make or someone tell me if they have ever gotten a lvl mod so they can have higher lvl pets and or do wookies can do i dont know what the stats they get for being a natural tamer if they go ch.

I really believe that when you get icapped and your masked scent stays up, you don't get DB'd, this has happened to me lots and lots and lots and lots of times. I'll be sampling, get agro, then icapped on the first hit. But my mask scent stays up, and the creature doesn't DB me.

just another thing to watch for, i dont know where you go to sample but make sure there are no enraged rancors of any type around you. the enraged ones will sniff you out no matter what you wear, least they do me. it's not always the mutant that finds you, but something else in the area. i also seen to have a huge problem with the reptillian flyer types spotting me all the time.

Try using mask scent clothing, it takes a few tries but i have done it many times.

I will usually have to aproach 4 or 5 times on 1 rancor. If your leary about going into a group, you should be. Its easier to try and pull one off with your presence, then sample from him.

I have about 20 dna's from mutants, but to tell you the truth, when crafting, they tend to only power out the same as a Bull Rancor. So do you really want to waste the time on it?

9 times out of 10 if you get sniffed out, all you have to do is stop moving and just wait until you can mask scent again.

But your 100% right, mutant rancors are a massive pain to sample from.
