Thread: What the heck am I doing!

So I make these really great non ch pets...

But if I try to make ANYTHING else I'm completely baffled. I end up with pets at level 23 with less ham than my level 10 pets. I have read the guides, and I get the basic idea...but somewhere I'm really not figuring out what the heck I'm doing.

I think when and where to experiment is one of my problems.

I recently made a trip to endor and picked up somevarious things and tried playing with them to horrible, horrible results.

I grinded BE to start with, but I really enjoy it tremendously and have been slacking on other grinding duties playing with making pets, tissues etc. I competely intend to keep it and would like to understand what I'm doing wrong and how to get better results.

Any advice (I'm a real hands on, give me the bottom line learner) would be greatly appreciated as I really enjoy this profession in a way I haven't enjoyed many things in this game for quite some time.

the only real way to figure it out is by doing it....... there's only so many guides you can read and so many posts about certain dna that are useful but until you start searching out and working around with stuff, you're not going to learn very much

if you have any specific questions, BE's would be much more willing and able to help you out, but asking for a guide isn't goint to help, since there isn't one

just play around with dna and see what works with what, and then if you need help, ask specific questions and i think you will find exactly what you're looking for

Yeah I guess it would have helped to be more specific...

In any case, I think I might have figured out what I was doing wrong...

Suppose the number in hardiness is really high, say 520 and the fortitude is pretty low to that say 100...and you put that in the first two slots...and then experiment a tiny bit on those two things on top of that...I'm thinking the hardiness drove up the level but the ham stayed low because of the fortitude?

There are some pretty clear posts on what stats will result in a CL 10 and what will push it over, that have been on the boards for a while. Buboopadoo posted about as clear a list as any I have seen, and there are several other good guidelines. YES, it does take looking but you will have to forgive the community for not immediately rushing to answer a question that is already well covered, it only happens 8 or 10 times a day on the forums and even the most helpful of us dream of an actual NEW question once in a while.

The biggest thing you need to do is to go sample some under CL 10 creatures (the artificially low level brackasets, bols and other mountable types are a great example) and look at the DNA stats they have, then work to match them. Remember that the CL formula has not been worked out yet, so chances are it is a complex balance between the different stats and resists.

Kinetic and Energy resists at 20% seem to be one "cap" for CL 10, though having them below that is no guarantee, only having them above is a guaranteed over 10. Fortitude over 50, Int and Dex much above 50 seem also to be triggers, and damage over pitiful is always a over CL10.

Start with making ANYTHING below CL 10, and working UP til you go over, recording the DNA stats from the template, then work back to find what tripped the level. Try the various stats and you'll get a handle on it.

No, it is not easy or quick. There are some recipes posted that will make some average CL 10 pets if you are careful, but the best is a matter of edging carefully closer to the max and learning the ropes. Its about the most difficult thing we as Bio-Engineers can do, so patience and practice is essential.

I didn't expect anyone to jump right on it, but let's be clear here:

I already make excellent level 10 pets. That's not what I asked about. I was confused as to why certain combinations were having certain results and couldn't quite see the relation between the two.

So while I'm sure even this question has been covered, in some post, clearly at some point, I am NOT asking about level 10 pets or how to make them.

Hey Sattlestone,

I'm not 100% sure how to help ya

Are you saying thatwhen you try to make CL23 petstheir statsare worse then your CL10 pets OR you cant make anything over CL23???

If you're sampling off endor and you're making pets that cant go past CL23... well then thats pretty amazing all by itself hehe

If you want a high CL you got to use DNA from high CL creatures... Try sampling the BMB (black mite burrorows), mereks, gurrecks, or screechers (off the top of my head).

If you're trying to make good CL20ish creatures remember two things:

  1. Kinetic and energy res have a huge impact on the cl. If you're making a PvE kinetic tank go for an energy vul.. if you're going for PvE NPC tank put in a kinetic vul.

2. If you dont need a res try and make it a vul. the more vul you have the lower the cl

I'm sure you know from making the cl10 tanks that damage will impact CL as will the hams.

I'll stop there since I'm not sure what exactly you're having trouble with. Don't know if any of that helped or not...

I think you may find a bit of help here on resists:

http://swgbe.mmospy.com/modules.php?name=Clone_Guide

Under "Examples of the resist calculation"

As for ham and damage.. try slightly increasing the max for cl10 fortitude statsthen go onto the other stats..

It is really confuzzling when you try to make your own recepies... but by all means if you crack the code.. do share!
