Thread: What got 'Invalid', What Didn't, and What Was The Point Again?
The error you're making is that you've applied the pet check to non-creature handler animals only. This is not the case. ALL level of bio-engineered animals get a validity check when they are called.
The problem is very simple. When a BE makes an animal the craftprocess assigns a level to it. That's where the flaw lies. The system can't determine correctly what level the animal should be when its crafted. That iswhy the "petcheck" isn't workin either. If the craft system can't determine the correct level how is the pet check going to do it correctly?
If the craft system worked correctly there would be no need for a pet check in the first place.

I agree that (or so I too assume) the check applies to BE pets across the board. But it doesn't seem to have as much implications with CHs if the level is too low and needs to be higher. Then again I've never had any CHs tell me their pet got invalidated after a patch either, and personally I've never made a pet beyond L66, so I've never recieved a message saying a CH pet was invalid and needed to be adjusted.
As for the crafting system being questionable, yes it is. I think we agree on that unanimously. Perhaps I'm jumping ahead and assuming that there should be a design philosphy regarding pets and their uses. Maybe there isn't or never was one, and there never will be one. Who knows. I don't.
Either way, I'm not making anymore L10 pets for sale on my vendor. Not until I have a better idea of what is ok and what is not. I'll still make the L10s I usually make on request, although it's very clear to customers it's a 'buy-at-your-own-risk' purchase.
