Thread: Wanted Dead or Alive: Cavern Spider Queen or Gronda juggernaunt
Well thank you all for helping me out
When I checked the stats on www.swgcreatures.com I knew these guys had to be hard finds and/or hard to sample.
The person who placed this order is the leader of a fair sized guild on the Bria galaxy... Guess he gets the option of either bringing that army to the night sister cave or easing off that 60 energy/kinetic CL69 pet he wants ![]()

I had a question for Ko-airi and castillo... When you guys sampled that spider did yall have master scout for the added mask scent or were you able to pull it off with just +25 camo?

I am MCH/MBE, so I got +70 mask scent with the extra +25 from clothes giving me +95 total. That is plenty enough for the rest of the spiders in the cave BUT be aware there are a couple of auto aggro points in the cave, where you get jumped no matter what (one right by the queen!). What I used to do was burst run down to the queen for the last bit and hope I was lucky enoughnot toget deathblowed.

Sounds like I got myself a real challenge ahead of me (providing my client still wants to do this).
So, just to make sure I got this right... there is an auto aggro trigger near the queen and the best way to handle it is to burst run, draw the aggro out from the queen (pray no DBs), dispatch the baddie, mask up, and crawl to the queen?
Or, does the queen aggro too and I have to let her incap me and then hope she doesnt DB, get up and sample her (if still alive)?
There was a time when I got a few samples from the RSQ a month or so ago when for some reason the NPC's wouldnt attack me on site (the spiders still would if not for my master scout skills
I found when I added say 4 samples of the RSQ to a sample from a CL50ish custom pet I made the final CL didnt go insanely high like I notice with Mutant rancor DNA (you put anymore than 3 samples of Mutant rancor DNA even with a Gnort and youll end up with something about 80odd
) but it did raise the average CL by a fair bit, I think the final out come was a CL65 pet. Normally when I put together samples from 50-60 CL critters the final CL is about 45+ don't know about the rest of you guys though, maybe its just me ![]()
Best advice I can give to make your clients pet esspecialy if they want particular speicals is make 1 creature from DNA of a prowling gurreck (it has no armour but with 4 samples of a RSQ DNA thats pretty easy too add) plus you can breed in the special attacks you want without loosing the great Kin/Eng resists in the final creature.
Oh yea and be carefull of the resists and damage you experiment with, one false move and you could end up with an unuseable CL71+ which is enough to make anyone screem ![]()

Good advice Zujin.
I am still debating how I will go about it with the specials.. Sadly the only usable special for the RSQ is special 2 (psy)... This means I will need to find a good creature, as you said, to sub in for agression.
Since my client wants good damge (prefers in the 500s) that limits the dna I can use for agression... The one bone that was thrown my was was that specials dont matter... just that there is two...
Well, since this will be a master piece I dont want to put crappy specials in it so I was thinking of going with dizzy or intimidate (my favorites) for special one and the RSQ strong poison for special 2.
So I was going to get some frenzied graul dna (leaning towards dizzy) for slots one-four and use some bull rancor in slot 5... hope that the specials will get mixed up in the process and give me a dna sample with the damage of a bull withspecial one of a F. Graul... Then run that sample through some BMBQ to run up the Kinetic and energy as close to 60% as possible and then getting some VHQ samples to use with the RSQ (would use this same process if I went with reg rancors for intimidate.. just would have to maybe layer the dna twice to get the kinetic and enery high as possible)
The nail biting part is the final CL as you eluded to... I never used M. Rancor dna since it such a pain to get and the only thing it brings to the table is higher damage/higher ham at the cost of res (unless you run some dna layers through it).... so I didnt know if you used more then 3 M. Rancors it would push the CL over 70....
I hope that I can get away with 4 RSQ and one2nd gen layered dna.... If not that means I would have to do a 2nd gen on that RSQ which would not be good since a pure 2nd gen RSQ likely wont cut it for my client...
I found that mixing DNA can give unexpected results and, aftering hearing what a pain this will be, the last thing I want to do is play around with my RSQ samples trying to find that right combine LoL
Just thinking out loud now ![]()
When/if you get there, the queen is a CL 70, and as such will either aggro and kill you before a sample is coaxed out, or you will get 1-2 samples before she dies. Compound that with the fact she spawns once a day only, and you have a very hard beastie to sample indeed. I have 3 samples from her from two trips, and I have them on display. I'd never use them, they're too hard to obtain.
No advice on the Gronda Juggernaut... quite frankly, never heard of it before.
Based on the difficulty of obtaining the Queen DNA alone I'd charge several million for whatever you make with it. Good luck!

I was able to pull it off with 4/2/4/2 scout and +25 mask scent BE clothing. However, I brought a rifleman/doctor buddy with me who conceal shot all the other spiders out of the way and provided me with 2 revives in a single trip. So... yeah, it sucked.
Oh, and there is definitely an auto-aggro trigger when you cross into the last room... best way to avoid that, surprisingly, is get in when the cave is clear late at night and log out in the back corner behind the skeleton behind where the queen spawns. When server resets, log back in. If you don't move, they won't attack, and you're close enough to sample. Otherwise, rely on a doctor friend with you to revive the first time you charge into the room, I've never had her NOT deathblow me.
Also, I got confirmation that the gronda juggernaut is a very rare boss spawn. Good luck finding one of those.
