Anyone else notice this, or am I just having a really unlucky day?

Ive been having bad luck with sampling lately too, and not just on mutant rancors. I seem to be getting more failures and being attacked a lot more lately.

When maskscent stopped working briefly a few days ago, someone made a post about SWG having a very poor or broken PRNG (pseudo random number generator - which is used for rolling to determine success or failure in many things). Maybe they broke it again?

Mutant Rancor have around a 1/3 success rate. That means it's perfectly possible to have a bad run of luck given the odds.

I managed to get 6 samples after 2 hours....maskscent is borked. Even on low level mobs, they detect me automatically. Only way I could get samples is have my friend master doctor, drag mutants on his swoop bike. When they un aggroed I would try to sample them. I would safely say 1/20 samples would succeed. Rest time I'd be corpsed. Died so many times, I was buffed too. But with upwards of 6 or more rancs chasin you....

What I am finding, even on trash I fail alot more than I did at lower levels. I am master now (took me 5 days lol), I will try further. With customers howling for uber pets, they fail to realize the challenge to get samples. Not one seems too understand this except my fellow BEs....Weaponsmiths and other artisan classes mearly have to drop harvesters to get their materials. We have to wade into the nastiest spawns even fighters hesitate to tackle. If they only stopped and read a few forums, maybe they would have some idea.

"Dude, make me uber petz. I want 14k ham, 60 ken, ac1, 100 res all, etc etc. Make it now, its easy dude"

or my fav from another customer that msged me last night...

"I need 60 petz now so I can train them and master CH. I pay you 500 per"

lol.

Here's a good one, "Can you make me some skill tapes?" or whenever I am automatically assumed to be a tailor. Sigh. Anyway, I attempted to sample a peko peko albatross over 30 times a few days ago and didnt get a piece of dna. Could be because it is really high level.

Cant sample peko peko albatrosses, I wish I could though

But anyways... I just got done sampling on Dathomir. I didnt see any Mutant Rancors, but I did find plenty of other mobs - rancor youths, YMPW, rhoa kwis, GSH, etc etc. I got attacked every **edit** time trying to sample. Then I tried some Vernes (low level mobs) - attacked every single time, same as the rancor youths and stuff. Maskscent usually didnt break, they just decided to attack me (even when I wasnt sampling sometimes). I managed to get a total of about 15 samples over 3 hours spent there, which is unacceptable.

BE is probably one of the only professions I really enjoy, but the game (and its numerous bugs) itself is really wearing my patience very thin. Time to go to Horizons or something I think.

I'm new to the proffession with only DNA sampling 2 but I noticed this too.I actually fail on gnorts and lesser whomp rats just as much as I do on, say...voritor dashers. Just seems to me that the skill mod only affects the quality of the dna and how many samples from one creature, NOT the actual "succeed/fail". Just the way it looks to me.

You know, I read this post earlier and didn't really think much of it. But after spending the last 3 hours sampling pickets and getting a whopping 3 successes - I'm about ready to start peeling off my own skin, layer by layer. Even newbie area crap is on again, off again.

I really enjoy this profession for the most part, but spending 3 hours sticking a needle inthe pixellated butt of some critter with hardly anything to show for it borders on idiocy. Sometimes I can feel myself getting dumber as I play. I have to keep a roll of paper towels nearby to whipe up the drool.

Here's a novel idea for the devs: QUIT ADDING NEW CRAP AND FIX ALL THE ISSUES YOUR GAME HAS.Last time I checked, beta tests were free. 10 bucks says the vehicle color tools are crayons and it takes 3 hours to color your bike and the color turns to hot pink when you store your bike (or when it decides to store itself).

Cripes. /end rant

Ok, but this profession can be fun when you actually get to create stuff. Its kinda fun having a house cat with 6 times my HAM.

K, thanks. I feel better.

Just to clairfy, I realize that Mutants have a higher failure rate due the level . . . I think I found the solution to the problem I was having . . . I was wearing a PSG at the time. I took off the PSG (personal shield generator) and I was able to sample Mutants (and other Rancors) with the usual sucess/fail rate. I don't know for sure that was the problem as I haven't put it back on, but I was wondering how many of you use them and if you can attribute that to the higher than usual failure rate.

This is in regards to the Peko Peko Albatross. You can sample them, I have. When I did I got an average quality sample and got over 2000 Sampling XP. I will repost later this morning with a screenshot I took after doing it. It is possible you just have to try and be willing to die if they aggro.

I know I fail samplingmore often after the last big patch than I did before the patch. I do wear a sheild. I'll remove it and see if that makes a difference.

Post the albatross pic of the sample. Otherwise I call shenanigans Its generally accepted that lvl 75 is a hard cap. If itsnot a hard cap, but instead a soft cap it could open up possiblilities to very dedicated or deranged BE's.
