Thread: Keep missing AR 1 buy 2-3 points in fortitude

I have been experimenting lately trying to drop clvl more in the first clone pass by dropping lower level dna into the mind and psych, typically a mix of above average and high quality samples. General setup is this, barkmite burrower in the physique and prowess slots, I have tried roba boar and delirous merek in the mental, arachne hatchling in the pscy slot and for aggression is a 1st generation clone sample useally high clvl 40's but always with armor. I figure higher overall quality dna or slightly higher clvl in the psyc slot will give me armor and a lower clvl in the first generation pass, but its **edit** irrating to keep missing it by only a few fortitude points.

I think the arachne hatchling is the problem.

I've been getting that if I drop in some non-armored dna into 3 & 4. The fortitude shoots straight up to 493 or something on the first experiment, then stays there determinedly as I pump points into trying to raise it. Critter ends up with a lot of health, shoddy A&M and AR0

I think the way forward is to use 2nd gen dna mixed with some new dna. Get the AR1 you want using 5 armored samples and experimenting fort to 500, and if the specials you want to have on the final beastie stick, stop experimenting.

If the cl comes out low enough on the final critter, sample from that and use that in slots 3 & 4 with new dna in the rest. This might not work, but it's how I'd go about trying to solve the problem.

This has happened to me before too. Sometimes you'll actually have room to put 1-2 more experimentation points into physique and the fortitude will be at like 495 and you'll think "I got it made" and then even successes in experimentation don't result in the fortitude going up. I figure in these cases it's hit some kind of cap for the particular dna combo you're doing. Generally this happens when I'm using dna that is only "marginally armored" in one one of the physique, prowess, or aggression slots, and put dna with very low fortitude in mental and psych. In other words a dna sample that has like 500-510 fortitude in one of the "armored dna slots".

The solution: Just look at the fortitudes of all the dna samples you have and insert something that has a higher value. Probably the easiest thing for you to do would be to put something that has higher fortitude into the aggression slot.

Yeah you typically need like 340 fortitude in the initial combine. I've hit ar1 with a couple points less, like 338, but over 340 you should be able to get ar1 every time with experimentation.

It caps to certain level above the initial combine in other words.

What you need to remember in combining the dna is that, while yes... AR1 is "predominantly" controlled by slots 1,2 and 5... there is 5% of the fortitude that comes from slots 3 and 4. If that is too low.. you'll never get the base stat to pump up through experimentation. Ive had good results with Arachne Warrior in slots 1,2 and 5 and Venom Filled Arachne in slots 3 and 4. Seems to me that Arachne Warrior dna when used... puts the pet right on the cusp of AR1... and if you dont use sufficient dna in 3 and 4... you're doomed to a huge ham no armor pet. Has happened to me a number of times. Ive been able to turn out armored pets using this combination at or about CL 32... kept one of these for myself.. rest went on my vendor.

Just remember that while 1,2 and 5 are the majority contributors... 3 and 4 add a little bit too.

Yeah, its frustrating but I figured the hatchling was the culprit. It only has a fortitudeof about 100 I think, I only tried it because I read another post where one guy was sucessful using it in his combo, but now that I think about it, he was also using higher quality dna in aggression than I am, I am using 1st generation clone to get get certain special with better resists. What would be nice would be a formula that you could plug in all your fortitude values and figure out your chances of getting AR 1.
