I don't think I personally would want to be able to change a pets appearance post creation (I'm already a vet, don't care to be a groomer too ), however I would absolutely love the idea of being able to alter appearance at the time of creation. Maybe Image Designers could be expanded to be able to work on creatures as well.

those color variations have always been there. the difference is that now the pet you tame keeps his original color variation every time you call him, meaning they did something to stora the appearance of your pet. they used to just randomly pick one coloration when theywere called.

Thisjust popped into mind...(post cloning changes) what if we could make a special tool for for Image Designers that allowed them to post-craft customize a pet's appearance? Basically the equal to Droid Customization Kits, yet made by us for ID's? Maybe have them be simple ingredients (berries for hair dye? heh) and craftable by a Novice BE.

If it fades like a droid customization, I won't bother with it. I'd rather pay a BE a decent sum to change the color and markings permanently. Or, maybe sample an existing creature's DNA, and then be able to make a baby that is exactly the same as the adult, but with the coloring we choose.

Mythought basically was - keep the image designing to the Image Designers. I can think of many BEs that would despise the idea of post-creation cosmetics, yet every ID I've bounced the idea off of loved it. /shrug, was just an idea!

We've been noticing more variation in the coloration of our tamed pets lately. For instance, one of my baby Grand Wrix turned out dark brown, another is very light in color.

Would BE's care to be able to change pet coloration and markings, like Image Designers can do for characters? I know it woule be low on the priority list, but would anyone be interested in it at all?

i know i'd sure want to be able to customize my pets. I'd actually like to have that as a higher priority, don't know if any other BE's would agree...

I believe coloration was one of the options we're supposed to be able to modify when the Cloning changes go in. You'd have to check the dev's notes to confirm though.

I think the ability to "tweak" the coloration and/or markings of BE designed pets is a great idea. This would allow pets to be a little more unique. Don't discount vanity as valuable marketing tool.

BUT I don't think it should be a BE skill once the critter is created... It should be an ID skill that requires the use of toolkit designed by a Master Artisan that requires certain BE components in its creation.

This would help make ID a lot more of a class in demand, prevents 'just anyone' going up one skill tree to make the kits, and would create more demand for BE products other than pets.

On the other hand I think we should be able to do some specialized colorization/markings AT creation..We could sell critters that came in different colors and normally non-popular pets would be saleable..

anyways, just my two cents.

Interesting responses! I thought I'd post it here because creature modification seemed like it would be the province of BE's, and Image Designers work on people. Plus, it would give BE's something else they could do for CH's and non-CH's.

So you'd mostly rather see a BE-craftable "Creature Marking Kit" that ID's would use on creatures? Or have it be an ID-only skill with no BE involvement?

I think I, personally, would rather see us make something that Image Designers can use on pets. Not necessarily with Master Artisan-made items, though, or a Master Artisan-made item with Bio-Engineered components. Too many steps there, in my never-humble opinion.

But something I could sell to Image Designers, who could then have a wider market than just player characters' avatars...that would be cool, I think!
