Is standing around the oasis, fishing all day, to get a grand total of 190 fish resources what I have to look forward to as a Master?

What a load of crap!

Can anybody let me know if making a stimpack D worth the time of fishing?

Not if you truly detest fishing. If you enjoy the occasional fishing expedition, then yes, stim Ds are worth it. I find fishing an enjoyable enough break from other activities, so they're worth it to me. I even managed to fish up enough this weekend to make the elusive 'crate'.

If you hate fishing though, don't do it. Stim Ds are such a rare commodity (at least on Sunrunner) that I've never had a CH ask me about them.

Are there any skills that increase your fishing ability or grant a larger harvest of fish when you fillet?

I have Hunting IV of course, but this doesnt seem to effect anything. I still get 1-6 fish resources per fish fillet. Since I am getting wilderness survival xp, does the forage skill mod have anything to do with the amount of fish you can get from a fillet or increase you skill chance of catching a fish without losing your bait or having your line go limp?

Sadly, nothing helps with fishing.I wouldnt mind it so much if the idiot fish promised to give me even 10 meat each, but getting those 1 fish fish is enough to make a person scream.

I've never tried selling them actually. I kept a set as wall trophies at home, and so now I just throw the dead carcasses on the ground to rot, stomping on them a bit on my way by for giving me 1 fish.

This post on the scout forum explains about fishing. I think I once saw a post there explaining how survival skill increased the average size of the fish you catch. But skimming throe this guide I did not se any info on this.

I got a friend who's a Master Artisan to make me a 90% fishing pole out of good resources. I noticed I'm getting Wilderness Survival experience now for fishing when I did it for a bit on Lok the other night while I ground out micronuts. (Yeah, you can do both at once, if you don't use Enter go to through the crafting windows. Gotta click.) Surprisingly, the fish on Lok were pretty good, and I got a 16-unit fish first cast!

For anyone who doesn't know, when fishing it's:

  • Nibble? --> Tug Up

  • Bite! --> Tug Up

  • Caught Something? --> Small Reel-in

Then the AI takes over and you either get a fish or not. When the fish is in your inventory, fillet it. Toss the empty fish carcasses unless you want them for trophies.

I have a friend that made an entire crate of 98% fishing poles. You absolutely need a high % rod. Using foraged bait instead of chum works better as well. Fish in shallow water with low weeds and a 4 or 5 star rating. When you catch the fish walk up to the bobber. You will catch the fish every time.

Fishing isn't any worse than going on an easter egg hunt across an entire planet hoping to get enough for one factory run. At least fishingI don't have to run my feet off or worry about getting killed. I just have to worry about my hands turning into wrinkled prunes.
