Thread: Its about speed, isn't it?

Fellow BEs,

I have been browsing here a lot now, looking for some clarification on the Subject: Pet Speed.

It would be helpfull if you listed the pet Skins with estimated speed to each other, player speed and maybe even vehicle speed.

Or is Pet Speed affected by any stat and hence optimizable?

My observations so far: Cats are fastest, with spider types pretty close.
They all cannot compete with a speederbike though.

With mounts, it seems that Dewback type is slowest, kadoo average and CarSpats quickest. I am not certain if anything changed since CH Patch though.

Thank you in advance.

Not only about speed, thing about size.

Sure a CL 70 kiMO is nice to have you send it to attack something it gets stuck on a tree or between the chairs in a camp.

When you could have a CL 70 kiMA, heh i know people don't like hotdogs running around.

the best frames are Nargs, Razor cats and Gurrecks, due to the fact that they can keep some pace with a speeder, have high terrain negotiation, and are smaller than a dewback.

Kuskash and other dogs are a close 2nd, after that its the two leggers then the four leggers then the above

Razor cat's run speed is well below the Narglatch and Gurreck, though it is higher than many others. A Gurreck can follow you in a landspeeder (the car) and keep up as well as on foot, or follow you on any mount. With the ability to make fighting mounts that have armor and significant stats, it is worth considering carefully whether as a CH you will use a mount or a vehicle, btw. There is no doubt that vehicles are faster for the long travel, the swoop being the choice there, but going out of the northern outpost on Dathomir or Endor, I use a mount or a landspeeder.

The Landspeeder/Gurreck combination in particular is excellent if you have the gurreck on "guard", where it will attack and tank whatever aggros you while you dismount the vehicle. A simple hotkey with the /tellpet follow me command will enable you to keep the pet with you if the aggro is one you wish to outrun rather than stop to fight.

Put simply all of the animals in the game seems to be based around a pool of around 12 skeletons. We already know that Durni, Squall and Gnort all use the same skeleton and are all exceptionally slow to move. You then have the 'dewback' skeleton which is used for the likes of the Bol, the dewback itself, the Bolma and Guf Drolg. Moving on you then have the insect skeleton, used for the Angler and Hermit spiders.. this typical 6-legged set of animations is actually quite fast although the animations for them recoiling from a hit usually means they have horrible attack speeds as they wait for the animation to complete. Next there is the Mantis skeleton used by the Merek and Dalyrake, typically average in speed but great for combat as the recoil animations are so quick. However I'll get to the issue of speed, all in all there are two 'big cat' skeletons. The most common is what I refer to as the Panther skeleton and then there is the Lion skeleton. While these appear to be similar they seperate and there's an easy way to tell. The Panther skeleton has the idle animation which makes the cat lie down on the floor when at rest, this is the buggy one where they lie on thier side and then flip back again in a very ugly way. The Lion skeleton has the cat sitting down quite peacefully and frankly I prefer that one since it's not bugged.

The Panther skeleton is by far the fastest in the game after the Eagle skeleton used by Peko Peko, Whisper birds and Reptilin flyers ect... These move through the air with thier wings outstreched as they soar and move very very fast. This is seperate from the Butterfly skeleton used by various small animals. The Lion skeleton however is probably one of the slowest even after the 6-legged one although thats just idle observation so I might be wrong.

The species which the bio-engineer has which use the Panther skeleton are the Gurrcat, the Narglatch and the Gurreck. All exactly the same speeds, the Razor Cat however uses the Lion skeleton which is slower as I mentioned.

Both gurrecks and razor cats are just as fast as my speederbike, but marginally slower than my swoop. Tested the mounts last night and they all run at the same speed. Dewbs and bols just seem slower because of thier size.

Lozareth is long gone.

Thank you for the great info.

This might be worth adding to the BE Guide on top, in the CL chart or something.

I never realized the attack speed problem with the arachne skeletton but will test it out. I am at cloning 3 still so my pets are Gurrcats exclusivly atm, but I was looking forward to use the arachnes due to relative high speed as well as nice tanking ability due to less running (as far as I observed) specially after the pathing "patch".
