Thread: Schematics for Chefs, Should We?

This seems to be the hot topic, replacing the topic of how much we should charge chefs for tissues. After reading a few posts on the subject of just how much chefs are charging for crates of brandy after either buying additives cheaply, or getting a BE to make the schematic for free or little charge. I'm really curious. For those BEs that are not, and don't ever plan to be BE/Chefs, what are your thoughts on this? Should we provide the schematics to chefs, or should we make them come to us for the additives themselves? What is better for the BE community?

I'd like to know your input before I decide what I should do myself in regards to this. When the "broken DNA" thing was the hot issue,I read the posts and decided that the best course of action would be not to go into the "uber" non-CH business, as it would only hurt the BE community ifI contributed to this practice. I have to admit, this was an easier choice to make than above. Sorry to call some of you out on this, but I'd really like to know how Tal-N, ArthurDent, Sumorex, Mirrl, & Fairchild think about this subject. I've always felt your input to this board has always been for the good of the BE community at large, so I'd really like to hear from one or more of you on this, as well as anyone else.

i'm staying out of it save for the two chefs i know and make deals with personally and no one else........

i've heard that chefs hate bes now (or aren't very happy with us anyway) and i think this is absurd.... they just got the hugest revamp to their profession and bes only make them better /sigh

some people just want everything..... everyone's freaking out thinking that they can only do good things with be additives but they don't HAVE to arrgh! /ripsouthair

Well my half-plug nickel is that yes we should provide schematics for the chefs for a fee. If the Chef wishes to take part of the "development" time/effort out from us then fine by me. I'll charge a certain fee for the schematic, based on its quality and the demand. I personally don't have the time to be chasing down resources (MEAT) and/or getting into bidding wars that I can't afford.

Chefs are making a killing right now as they should (I know I've bought my share of brandy) and if we contribute to their windfall then we should get a fair share, dependent upon what we contribute.

I'm currently selling crates of Micronutrient for 25k/crate, BroadSpectrum for 40k/crate, and IntelligentNanos for 60k/crate and my Chef is happy to pay it. I haven't decided on schematic prices as of yet (I posted earlier today asking about pricing schemes) but the price will not be very much. How long and how much effort does it take a MBE to whip up a schematic? All of a couple minutes at best. How much are we putting into the schematics? Nothing but time. So my schematics will reflect that (assuming the chef provides the resources and does the factory runs).

1. About 50k meat and 450k of flora (pre release 6) to level the 3 crafting trees.\

2. From several hours to a few days to level up DNA sampling 4

3. 620 Apprentice points to train master

4. 29 Skill credits for Medic + Organic Chem 4

5. 29 Skill credits for Scout + Hunting 4

6. 63 Skill credits for Master BE.

7. 20 seconds to craft a schematic.

Well, I'd be glad to make a schematic for people. And charge them 1k for doing it. Just like doing stuff for tailors. If they provide the resources, not a problem. I have noticed that not many of them have the resources they want to use for this and what they do have is poor quality.

I have made a killing since the revamp. I sell the chef additives for 40-50k a crate. And if its a really good high % additive, I can get up to 75k a crate depending on what it is.

Lol...I made 2 mil credits in 2 days.

The idea that _Chefs_ hate _BEs_ is ridiculous. Some BEs came to the Chef forums and made a stink about what we charge for Vasarain Brandy compared to what we want to pay for BE additives. That afeeling should now arise that their is tension between professions based on the wrankles of a couple people on these forums is unfortunate, no to mentionuntrue.

I've worked with a couple of BEs on Chilastra now, with nothing but great feelings all around.

some people just want everything..... everyone's freaking out thinking that they can only do good things with be additives but they don't HAVE to arrgh! /ripsouthair

It is currently impossible to sell brandy competetively without difficult to obtain BE additives. We are 100% dependent on BEs to be competetive. That means there are going to be chefs coming asking for either the additives or schematics. As with any community, especially online,a number of those chefs will be dip____s and/or idiots. But most won't - they will be good people looking for a good, sustainable relationship.

I have now twice obtained schematics for the additives. Most recently, I paid 150,000 credits for a schematic that yielded me 350 additives. That works out to around 11K a crate. I thinkwe bothfelt good about that price, for a couple minutes of her time. In fact, I'd prefer to buy crates. It would be well worth the extra 30K or morea crate to not put in the huge amount of time harvesting, running factories, negotiating with hunters and scouts, etc. I don't know if in some way this undercuts your profession. It seems, to me, thatat most it undercuts those who are actively trying to make and sell additives. Which, judging from my efforts to hunt downfinished crates ofadditives, doesn't account for too many of you. I'd happily go from asking forschematics to buying crates - and I'd pay handsomely for those crates. So - if you're a BE on Chilasta selling crates of food additives, e-mail Herodotus in game. I'll buy every doggone one you've made.

Yep that's the cost for a new character but for a MBE it's just #7.

If there are far more chefs wanting to make Brandy than BEs able to supply components (which seems to be the case) the effect will be to inflate the price per crate

.

If there are far more fighters wanting to buy BE enhanced Brandy than Chefs who are able to supply it to them then the price will inflate. This is clearly the case and is visibly happening on every server

.

So making free schematics simply means that our prices don't rise as Chef prices rise

.

For all that I would make a schematic for a good friend. Friendship is more important than macroeconomics.

.

But I am also a chef and would give a crate of brandy away to a good friend

.

So I think the question should be do I like this person enough to give them one of the most marketable things I can make for free?

.

Even selling it cheap is pretty dubious. That 20k you just made for 20 secs work prevents you putting your crates up by 10k
