Now that I have more time to experiment with animals, I have been playing around with somedna and would like to receive some input. Usually, I try to get light armor on all my clones. However, I have managed to make some very nice pets with high resists and other very nice stats that don't have armor. Are pets without armor worthwhile to have? Or will they die too fast? Has anyone found a customer base for different level pets without armor?

--Are pets without armor worthwhile to have?
None CH will still need pet that is max at CL10, there is no such pet to my knowledge is <= CL10 with light armor.
--Or will they die too fast?
Yes they die faster, target mob + HAM and resists will determine that.

Yes as I said, None CH or novice CH control up to CL 14 or so still have to get pets that got no armor. As MBE, you can certainly try to make a armored pet in lower 20 or I heard even higher teens...best I made was with 9 to 10k HAM and armoredCL22 with crappy dmg.

60% res in kinetic is equal to armor and 10% res I belieive... something like that anyhow.
I have found that CL20-25 pets with NO armor, high ham, and high damage have been awesome sellers.
I sold a CL18 pet with 8k ham across the boards, 60% kinetic, damage in the 300s anddizzy/strong poison specials**and** a similar CL25 gurreck within 3hrs of putting them on the vendor.
Every CH has different needs... 3 pets in the CL20 range can be made with 300s damage each for a grand totalof 900 damage all together!!! That is**more** then any level 70 creature can do... Not only that, since you have 3 pets, you can also have access to 6 different specials!!!!!!!
While they might not last as long as a CL50+ armored pet with 60 kinetic and 10-11k hams, they will certainly deal a much greater offensive blow.
I'm a new believer in low level unarmored pets. Can you make an armored CL20ish pet? Yes, but due to their low damage, high attack speed, and FUBAR to-hit I, as a former MCH, found them to be useless...

Ok this is what I was wondering. My question was more for the pets that have high resists like 60% Kinetic and Energy with other good stats, just not the armor. I've made pets that ranged from the 20ish all the way up to lik 50ish, but wasn't sure if the great resists would offset the light armor.

I'd say about 75% or more of the pets that I made > CL 20 are armored, but the others are intentially unarmored. If you are talking about pets in the range of CL 21-28 or so, there is a definite tradeoff there. Generally the tradeoff is how multi-purpose the pet will turn out to be vs how specialized. You can make a great kinetic tank with armor and resists in that range, but it's useless in a gun fight and won't really participate in the kill other than absorbing damage. Or you can make a pet withreally good blend of resistsAND good damage unarmored that is a very versatile pet. Actually, as a CH, it's kind of nice to have both, lol.
And then of course there is the PVP recipes, which to me are unarmored with freakishly high damage and lowish CL. Those are fun too, lol.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I just made some very nice level 32 and 33 pets for a customer. Both were unarmored but had very nice stats otherwise. I don't recall all the stats at the moment but the first one had kinetic 60, 50 energy and 80 for electricity. The other resists I don't remember. Damage was decent with nice specials. Second pet had 55 kinetic and 55 energy and also nice specials. Damage decent on both with nice HAM. I am quite pleased and will be experimenting more with unarmored pets now.
Thanks again.

As a total fluke when I was going for something else, I had a first generation combine on a Woolamander that came out CL21 with 11k health, 60% kinetic, and 250 damage. I gave it to my alt that has jsut picked up enough CH xp from using a nonCH pet while masterting TKA. It is an amazing pet! After giving up all TKA and Brawler skills and picking up Novice Marksman, I took on a CL45 Grassland Voritor Tracker. With my republic blaster hitting for 200 and the pet hitting for 250 it went down fast (even after taking inti account its 65% kinetic and energy resists) and the Woolamander was still at 75% health. There is an excellent market for these pets to the CH dabblers.
