Thread: Does this method of creature making work?

This method used to work but I don't know if it still will. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Here is what I used to do;

I'd find a creature I wanted to make. Then I'd find some of them and sample, sample, and sample some more.

Then I'd make creatures. Plenty of em. Then I'd sample from THEM. And then, using those templates. Make either one final creature, or enough to sample from that generation and sample to make one last one.

Does anyone know if that system produced a higher quality creature? It used to.

Thanks for the help.

Depends on the level creature you are trying to make. If you want to make a CL60 razor cat you don't need to sample razor cats for DNA but CL60 creatures as it is the creature level that drives the pet level.

If you wanted to make CL10 or lower pets you would get samples from say 3 CL4 creatures and 2 higher level creatures. This generally makes a CL10 or lower pet deed.

Ah I see. There was no such thing as CL back then. It was pretty much dependant on the quality of the dna sampled and the quality of the organic components used. For instance meat from herbivores did'nt make for the best kind of agressive creature.

Now everything comes down to this CL thing doesn't it? Cruddy...

The resources you used haven't played a role in the outcome of my deeds and I've been doing this for little over a year and a half - that may have been the way it was in the very beginning of the game, not sure but I'm sure we have BEs from the start of the game who could answer that.

The hit, defense, andarmor play a part in the outcome once tamed - if these stats exceed the stats for that level creature then it will either be uncallable or receive the validity check so that you can adjust stats.

I don't remember type of meat ever having been a factor. The onlything about the beginning is that it was based mostlyon CL (hard to remember if meat stats helped...possibly). So, some would try to figure out a way to sample a krayt without gettin aggro. I loved the post where a smuggler found a way to draw aggro, feign death, sample. Creative...and it was I believe the only method known. Smugglers were the best samplers. It was kinda funny. What I would pay to get my hands on a krayt DNA sample from then....
