Thread: creatures surviving DNA sampling at least once, has it happened to others?

I'm just wondering because I've had this happen two, maybe three times last night while DNA sampling, it was a nightspider and a badly injured rabid shaupaut, they died on the second DNA sampling though. I just want to make sure its a bug and I'm not somehow exploiting by accident (I sampled lots of creatures last night, so....).

some creatures can be sampled up to 6 times (once i sampled something 8 times)

you will be able to take more samples without killing the creature as you level up

I see, that may be why my creatures that I make die and I fail to get DNA from them when I try to sample them

yah, the other night i sampled 4 different fierce picket protectors and got 7-8 samples off of each of them...definately some nice stats on those animals.

Heh, completing missions by sample deaths starts to become less feasable as you level up. I've been kindof broke lately in my BE grind and I lack weapon skills, so I used to sample pikets to clear the way for destroying the lairs. Now at sampling IV it takes like 6-8 attempts to kill them. Takes all night to clear out a lair now.

I find it entertaining that our sampling abilities are so poor that some people think it could be an exploit that something isn't dying after the first sample

I believe that the higher CL the critter the better chance it will survive. At leastst that is my experience so far (though I only have Sampling 2).

Normally, I can sample a pet I create once and get 1 DNA sample. Once I got 3 out of one. And sometimes it poofs without any sample. I don't think I have had a wild critter die without yielding a sample.

Sampling DNA depends on your level.. MBE can sample 4-6 times per creature sometimes..

Actually it's more of the other way around. I find sampling high CL creatures you get fewer samples before they die. Sampling deeds is just more likely to kill the deed. I've gotten 20 samples from a single huurton pup before (CL 2), but my usual merek harvester (CL 55) sample is 3. And my usual mutant rancor(CL 75) sample is 2. Pet deeds are just made to die much more easily despite CL. I'm lucky to get4 samples off of a CL 2 pet deed, and lucky to get 1 sample off of aCL 40+ pet deed.
