Well, "DNA Harvesting" is a skill mod like any other, so there's nothing in the buff system stopping it.
Although I think you may be selling yourself short with a request of just +5. For most skill buffs, the amount you can get from food is roughly equal to what you can get with one to one-and-a-half skill boxes: enhanced veghash gives +30 creature harvesting, equal to a couple boxes of scout; chandad gives +15, equal to just over one box of survey). Since it looks like each box in the sampling branch gives +15, I think a range of 15-20 with a tissue enhancement isn't unreasonable. Of course, there may be nuances in how the skill mod itself works on the back end that would make that a bad idea, but that's why the devs get the big bucks to think about those things.
I've got a hunch that post-CU, skill buff foods may shift to becoming more desirable (due to the changes in the HAM and buff systems), so I'm being sneaky and keeping a list of possible buff additions. I'll add this.

Maybe have it work just like Jawa Beer in stats, but put it someplace in the Chef tree.

Such a buff sure would be nice, particularly if the effect of it were to decrease the probability of killing the animal on each attempt (particularly nice for multi-gen dna or high level creatures). And it would be especially nice if it had an affect on the apparent sampling cap of CL 75 (which is one of our top-5 issues).

Interesting idea. Now that we have Jawa beer for +Mask Scent, perhaps the DNA harvesting bonus could come from some food that is +5-20-ish? Perhaps make it a food with 1 use like the assembly crafting food and increase chance of not killing the creature in the DNA attempt. Then it would be very limited how often we can use it, and still help a lot with generational cloning.

I think that would be too limiting...make it like jawa beer, where you get a +5-10 bonus for maybe up to 15 mins, not enough to last an entire buff session but enough to last 1-2 lair's worth or to clear a POI

My latest Jawa beer is +17.28 for 16 mins

oh and i'd prefer a food. at the moment my character tries to drink accaragm, vasarian brandy and jawa beer before she's able to have a night on the tiles sampling beasties. i've had to resort to getting a mind buff and not using brandy (works just as well tho).

I really think the Dev's need to give us Geonosian Cola or somthing to give us a small boost to the DNA sampling.
I mean it could be small like the max with INN you could get a +5 to DNA sampling for 5min. I think that is not too much to ask. Also i think we need a quest to get a new creature to create. The rest of the crafting prof's have got somthing (doc/medic crafting apron, Armorsmiths have the RIS quest, weaponsmiths the toolbelt)
I think it is time the BE's got a little love.

guys guys - you're thinking too small. It should be a BE enhanced tissue for clothing !!!!! DNA sampling/mask scent tissue would be awesome!!!

Would be sweet with a tissue for clothing, I agree. However, better ask for a small thing and get it - instead of asking too much and the devs will refuse it.

/cynicism on
God forbid that BEs be able to manufacture something that is actually BE-specific. That would blow the Dev's whole "prof-interdependence" paradigm out of whack.
/cynicism off
Then again, we would need the Tailor to create the clothing...
It's been a long day at work...disregard my rambling.
