I am trying to master BE and follow the ohh so wise path of the Holocron. Just wanted to know what are the best resources to use and what is the best thing to grind. I am having problems with the "creature food" because it seems like you can only use organic meat (which is not as easy as some other resources to come by)

any tips would be great

Guess what, you'll be grinding alot of that hard to come by meat! Because the two primary resources you will need is flora (lots of it) and meat

it only took me 3 or 4 days to grind to 4-4-0-4 in bio engineer. The DNA harvesting is taking a lot longer

You will definitely need a lot of meat and flora, though. I set up 5 medium harvesters at 6-9 extraction and a heavy at 9 extract on a couple of 90%+ spawns of wheat and then wood. Then for meat I found some rangers that were skilling and asked them to just harvest large amounts of garbage meat while XPing that I could buy and I paid 4 cpu.

If you want to go get your own meat, kamurith defilers on Dathomir are great for it. Me and a few guildmates could usually haul out 20k a night (in a couple of hours at most).
