Pick up a high school biology book, and you'll figure it out. It has to do with cloning...
I'll leave the rest for you to figure out....

I'm still trying to find out how many pairs you have to match before you override the terminal.

I have a friend who picked up Novice BE so we could destroy faction bases. Problem is we can't figure out the little puzzle that has you match the DNA pairs. Can anyone explain how this works. Also how many DNA pairs do you need to match we got to 20 by randomly guessingbut the terminal disappeared before we could finish. Anyone help out with this?

I did this once and I had 22 matches before it blew. It took me about 20 - 25 minutes

yoou need 23 pairs before you can complete the sequence, but thats all i know about it
it took me more then 30 mins to complete it, but i noticed that the last 2 sequences the choices were the on single letter that were left so i dont know if that helps or not

*sigh*
Former MBE, still novice, will likely return to MBE sometime soon.
Anyways,like it says in theFAQ....
20 to 25 matched pairs needed, I tend to need only 23 pairs most of the time. If you get aggro'ed the window disappears and you can't use it again til you are done fighting.
A matches with T. C matches with G.
There are combinations of these letters you can match up to get more than one pair per match, but thats for you to figure out on your own.
It does take some time. Its the longest slice of a base destruction. Thats funny to me, the only non-combat profession needed takes the longest to do. Perhaps we could suggest cutting the required number of matches pairs down a bit maybe? I think 12 or 13 pairs is more than reasonable.
Anyways, when you sucessfuly match the 20-25 pairs it will close the window and toss up a system mesage about the terminal being sliced and reward you with 1k BE crafting exp.
Enjoy,
