I'm doing some pets experimenting in the DNA...

Best thing I can get is a level 10 razor cat or something else with around 5K of H and around 40 of Kinetic resistence, damage something low with max 220ish

From reading the creature handler forums, because I am also a pet crafter primarily, they've determined a few things:

One high level pet is better than multiple lower levelpets because of the combat level calculation. The lower level pets take much more damage against high level mobs or a PvP opponent even though there are two of them. I've experienced this myself.

The minimum damage is a larger factor than the maximum damage because of the combat level calculation. A pet with a CL of 70 (max for a CH) will do less damage against a mob or PvP opponent that is higher level. Therefore the pet is going to be hitting for the minimum in this situation. Also, if a CH does more damage than the pet, the mob will break aggro and attack the CH. Animals have lost much of their tanking abilities because of this. I've discovered this first hand.

In this light, I'd recommend making your animals into mountable animal skins and try selling them to newer players. Most people don't use their mounts for combat and the animals you're making are marketable in this form.
