Thread: New Harvesters for BE's

Ok I know I read (about a month ago) that in Beta they had tissue farms or something like that wherein a BE could have a harvester for gathering meat. Is there any new information, or has this been put to sleep? Logistically a BE could clone a herd of cattle to produce meat/milk/eggs - so why not allow this to happen? Anyone have any information on this?

Bio-harvesters, they're throw backs from when SWG had the farmer profession. They still exist in the code but there's been utterly no word about these even though we've made multiple suggestions for alternate ways to gather organics without the devs even giving us a reply to say yes it can be done or no it wont.

As much as my chef wants milk. I know the day after we get it. We will all go... "Ok we waited 5 months for this!?!". Although the taming cloth would make my CH happy

Why not just create a new profession: The milk man:

He wpuld have the 4 following trees:

1. Milking: Increases yield from creatures

2. Dairy equipment: Allows schematics for dairy stalls, milking aparatuses, and other contraptions.

3. Cow Taming: Allows tou to tame cows of different creatures to be used fro milking.

4. The milk truck: Allows you to hire out jawas to deliver milk at peoples doorsteps in gian sand crawlers.

This profession would require engineering 4, master scout, and master creature handler. Novice milkman would require 90k creature handler experiece.

For those of you that have criticzm of thi, its just a joke. On the other hand, I bet there wold be a few people who would do this if Sony "solved" the milk shortage this way.

This will be a suprise to some and known to others. In beta we had a farmer profession. Actually we had miner to. The farmer was the one who got the milk, eggs and such. But they didnt feel it was that flushed out as a profession and dropped it. And there went the milk and eggs. Last i remember it was supposed to somehow come off of BE since it was the profession with the greatest connection to it.

Well I am thinking the Farmer profession, if implemented, would be one of the richest professions around with such rare resources available to them.

For the first couple weeks, sure.

The problem they saw in beta (and would on live should the bring it back) is once the initial rush is over, what then? Sure, they'd be the defacto standard for aquiring these resources but honestly how much do you think Chefs and BEs would use in the long term?

Add in meat, hide and bone and you might be on to something, but then it takes away from the Rangers.

I still think they should reintroduce the Miner and Industrialist by merging the two professions together resulting in a profession which aimed towards mass production of materials with saving for productions costs. The bio-engineer should actually get to return to our farming roots with the ability to breed cattle and get increased yields from the flora farms.

Yes it is interesting that miner, the profession removed because it was not interesting enough is probably one of the most common activities in the game.

In any case collection of resources like milk, seafood and eggs should be brought into the current resource game and be consistent with it. Fish farms, dairy farms and egg farms should all fit in the same resource survey and collection system as it is. You pull out a tool, survey, place a harvester, power, maintain, return in a week.

It sticks with the current system which although it has flaws at least works.
