Thread: Best lvl 15-20 pets?

I am looking to by a BE’d pet around lvl 15-20 to help me grind up to MCH. What ham and resists should I be looking for in that range? What shell is the best? I’ve heard that one or two of the cats are the fastest, but I don’t remember which ones. Can there be any specials at that lvl, and generally what are the best specials to have (no just for this creature)? Also, any similar information about lvl 23-25 and 50-60 pets would be appreciated. Thanks for any and all help.

There isn't a 'best', that is the purpose of the CL rating system to ensure that there is an overall balance between mobs of the same rating. What you do have is pets which are best are certain roles. For example what you could do is have a ranegd attack mob with a poison attack, this is helpful for ranged combat if you're actually able to kill the mob yourself as you will tell your pet to attack, they'll get their one hit in and then you call it off and then kill the mob yourself meaning that your pet didn't take any damage but still hit the enemy once so you get full exp. Alternatively you have kinetic tanks where all of the resists and specials are focussed on making it a tough melee fighter. Then you have onse with good all around protection for PvP purposes or focussed towards the most common PvP damage types. Ultimately though they will all be around the same power because they will excell at one purpose and suck for another. Unfortunatly there are people who know how to use the bugs in the rating system to create what the devs consider overpowered pets but since they haven't given us a solid baseline comparrason except for the mobs already in the game its hard to know which clones will be made invalid later or not.

Find a Master Bio Engineer on your server and have them make you a pet using

Merek Harvester/Merek Harvester

Arachne Hatchling/Picket Longhorn

Picket Longhorn DNA

Tell your BE to max his/her experimentation as this creature wont be going higher then lvl 20

This will give you a pet around lvl 16 with 60% kinetic and 10k/7k/5k HAM and around 400 damage, but more importantly, Blind and Intimidate specials. So, the opposing creatures will be doing less damage and hitting your tank less often. Actually, if you want the very best tank you can get, tell the MBE you find to only use merek harvester dna that has a hardiness over 700. If this does not make sense to him/her, find a new MBE

Then, take your new tank to the Geno cave and get oodles of CH experience. Just don't try and tank the combat droids with it, unless you have too.

Aluf. Please don't recommend such a thing. *shudder*. Seriously. If a customer came to you and said "I need a CL x pet and I want you to use such and such a formula, and I want you to experiment so much in this area, and I expect this type of result, and here let put my hand on top of yours so you don't make any mistaken mouse clicks, and if it's less than this I won't accept it" how would you feel about making such a pet? I've actually had customers (2 actually) that have requested such a thing from me, and I've turned them both away very uncerimoneously. I find it extremely insulting, as I'm sure other master BE's would as well. As I'm sure you would. We'renot a crafting machines, and I won't have customers (or other BE's) telling me how to make pets. A customer is free to buy or not buy, but they'll never be dictating to me what the pet making process should be. I show other crafters that same respect. If you like that formula, and you insist on using it for every pet in that CL, cool, more power to you, just don't push it onto others ok?

I am sorry your ego gets bruised if somone asks you to make a pet with a formula that you did not come up with. But, that is your problem. Not mine and not the player that started this thread.

SB_Antimony asked for the best pet he could get in a certin lvl range. I offered him the best one I know of.

Please, don't presume to tell me what I would, or would not be insulted by.

While we are at it, why don't explain exactly what is wrong with bringing a ready made formula to BE? If somone knows what a given formula is going to produce and thats what they want, what does it matter? What difference does it make using somone else's formula? Where is the moral imperative to discourage this practice?

I would have to guess, that since you have such disdain for such a practice that you would never think to use a formula presented on these forums by another BE. I am sure, since this this seems to be such a source of pride for you, that youobviouslyworked out all your formulas on your own without working from anyone elses ideas or findings.

Thank you all for your help. As I hope to level up rifleman at the same time I would probably go the tank method. If they are affordable enough I might want one of each as I want to lvl up TKA as well, but might save that for a stronger pet.

The other day Itook a look at a vendor I just happened to be passing by. On it were low level pets ( approx. 150 ham) that were being sold for 5K. Come to think of it I bought a rancor from you Tal-N last year for around 40k.Has the price range jumped into the hundreds of thousands or millions of credits range? What sort of range should I expect for a low, mid, or high lvl pet? Also do certain skins prohibit the use of ranged attacks? What are the fastest skins available? Besides blind, intimidate, and poison, what are other good specials used on higher end pets, or are those really the cream of the crop?

Thanks again for your help.

Aluf, it's all about respect man, sorry that you seem to have no sense of that or appreciation of that at all. There's a huge difference between answering this guy's question of "what the best pet is" and telling him to go and demand that a BE uses your precious formula and method for making a pet that you favor. Sorry you can't see that. And I'm just curious... when you go to have a weaponsmith make you a gun, do you normally tell him what metals and what chemicals to use, and how to do his experimentation? I wound't want to presume anything, lol, maybe you'd better tell me.

Oh, and Antimony, here is a thread where this topic (quality, low CL bio engineered pets) is discussed. I hope that you find it useful.

I have asked weaponsmiths if they have the experimentation tapes for 12 experimentation pts. I have brought them looted components and instructed them on which ones I wanted used for the different pistols I have have ordered. I have also asked them to do different types of experimentation on weapon scopes so they could come up withrange bonus/HAM penalty that I was willing to live with.

This is about what the customer wants. Not what your ego will allow.

I wish I were as calm as Arthur. Little boy, this has nothing to do with ego. It does have to do with respect, like arthur pointed out. You may be able to pick and choose weaponsmiths who have 12 experiment points. That is all well and good. You may, also, be able to bring him looted objects (part of the beauty of weaponsmithing). That's just dandy. Unfortunately, BE is a crafting profession that lacks any skilltapes or loot that can enhance a pet. Hell, the one loot we could possibly have (secret research data) isn't even in the game. Nothing can be done to improve upon it except for experimentation food and the city the BE resides. Even the OQ of meat and flora used to make the creature has no effect on the outcome. I personally use 1 OQ herb meat I collected specifically for making creatures.

I swerved off the road a bit. Since CL and HAM isn't displayed until the finished stage, there is only one measure the BE can use to estimate it. Would you like to guess? Estimation. Comparing BE with weaponsmith is, byall means, comparing VasarianBrandywith Jawa Beer. And it has nothing to do with ego. Why don't you take BE, grind to master, and I'll send you a tell demanding what pet I want and what DNA you should hunt to do it. I'll expect nothing less and consider it egotistical if you get offended.Since it is also ego based, I'll even set the price for you.
