Thread: A serious proposal for player species switches (new market potential)

sounds like a good idea to me

i like the way it involves a number of diffrent professions in diffrent way. The diffrent crafting classes (and certainly image designers) can always use more stuff to do and work on

I really like that idea. It provides bio-engineers with a use for non-CHs. It provides work for a number of professions. It also provides what the devs are saying they want so bad - a money sink. I think it's perfect!

Excelent idea Tal-N, would definatly give us somethign else to play around with.

And it shouldn't be limited just to one species to human, because say they introduce a new race that some human would rather be, we could change him/her to that species.

Also, I think the more skills that a person has it should increase the difficulty of the species change, where as it would be fairly easy to change a Mon Cal that's only usedsay 100 skill points to a Trandoshan, but changing that Wookie who has used all 250 skill points to a Bothan would be a bit more difficult.

Now this is a cool idea. I really hope that they at least consider it.

If this was implemented I think 24 hours till a PC can be changed again is too short. Should be more like a week to a month.

I agree with this statement.

I think it would be more reasonable to force you to keep the new race for 2 real life weeks and if you do it a second time within 2 months, then you must keep the second race for 4 real life weeks.

I think this is a GREAT idea. Especially considering we can only have one character per server and that new species will be introduced over time (hopefully).

Well i say a 24 hour period since if you could change it faster than people would change their species to suit a certain situation they're going for. Also the fact is that a week or a month causes problems for people who change their mind. As for the stats changing and such I thought of a simple solution. When they get into the gene-sequencer they need to make sure they have nothing on. No armour and no clothes. That way you dont get any issues with species specific clothing or stat issues from what armour does. Changing the stats themselves is easy, only today they did a check on people stats to see if they were to high or too low for that species due to bugs causing you to gain or lose points. I was actually too high and when i looked at the stats they'd simply dropped the ones which were lowest lower and then moved onto the higher ones if they needed to remove more points.

So they can already totally alter your stats in the game, nothing stopping it from being done as a voluntary species change. You might need to have a loading screen so that the client has to cache all of the new resources and settingsbut thats not too bad.

I'd love this capability to be added to the game.

OK I thought about this some more, and I still really love this idea. I origianally made a Zabrak because I was going to be a combat specialist, however now that I am becomming a Master BE I would like to change to a Mon Cal. And the thought of rerolling everything, even with the option of transfering all my stuff just sucks as an option.

Perhaps a poll in the SWG Discussion section might be a good idea and get an idea for if the general population likes this idea?

Great idea, I would love this, but I somehow doubt we will see it in the game (so what, I'm a pessimist ).
It would be hard to fit into the continuity, although you could just say that the process is highly dangerous and was banned by the Old Republic aswell as the Empire (I'm sure the EU experts could think something up )

Also I would say that a successful switch should cause SEVERE wounding of the subject, and a failure death (so have fun trying to swich your Jedi Master )

Again, great idea, would surely lift my spirits regarding added races in future expansions.
