We get a lot of chefs, tailors, and pet users coming to the forum because they cannot find a BE to supply their needs on their own server, and can't or don't take the time (no doubt plenty of both) to search those forums.

How about a "sticky" topic which is simply a one-message-per-BE "advertising board", where if you want to, you can post a message, maybe in a simple format started at the head of the thread, stating what server, what you make and where you sell if you have a shop or vendors in a shared store or mall, etc.

Say, for a quick example:

BE: LLan Farseeker

Server: Chilastra

Home Planet: Naboo

Vendor location: Storm Haven Mall

Vendor waypoint: -7125 5525

Products -------------------

Chef Suppliments: Yes

Stocked on Vendor: Yes

Made to order: Yes

Tailor Tissues: Yes

Stocked on Vendor: No

Made to Order: Yes

CH Pets: Yes

Stocked on Vendor: Yes

Made to order: Yes

Non-CH Pets: Yes

Stocked on Vendor: Yes

Made to order: Yes

Pet Medicines -------------------

Stims: Yes

Stocked on Vendor: Yes

Made to order: No

Vitality Packs: Yes

Stocked on Vendor: Yes

Made to order: No

Notes: Special order pets made on discussion with player, deposit required

Factory runs of tissues/suppliments made with your supplied components at reduced prices, deposit and materials required.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That would make for a relatively easy , searchable format, that would help reduce the number of "Looking for a BE on thunderbumbers for chef nutrients" posts and help both the BE community and the players in need of our services locate someone that can fill their needs. Using a simplified format would make searches simpler and make the information easy to manage. Posters could simply copy and past a template to the thread and fill it in with their specifics.

ATM I'm not gonna put up any new stickies till I've had a chance to go through and organise them all - we have far too many right now.

I completely agree....

But I think this is a good idea too.... so don't forget it...

Unfortunatly even with a sticky at the top like that... most people will just post anyways.... The poeple that don't search their forums won't sift through that thread

I agree. It will be a nice effort and something to point to, but it wont be used.

the problem with this is that there are trade forums to do that........ though i undoubtedly see the usefulness, it would be far more beneficial to just look in your trade forums anyway (currently kettemoor has a "advertise you vendor" thread and i assume many other trade forums do as well)

I agree that there should be a place in the trade forums, but the simple volume of requests we are seeing here demonstrates that there is not so easily locatable place being used, at least in many of them. I advertise in my galaxy trade forum, and unless I set up an auction, it drops off the first page in an average of less than two hours.

A single, stickied thread that could be labelled "Find a BE on your server here" or something would cut down a lot of the other requests. Remember, these people are posting here, most often, because they cannot find it on their own galaxy trade forums, and even an "advertise your vendor" thread of all the crafters in a galaxy would get a bit overwhelming. I think this is as good a way to provide the listing, specific to the BE community, as we are likely to find, and chances are it will grow more useful as it becomes a fixture that people know they can refer to and use.

Besides, I would much rather see the community able to say "go here to find your answers" than to say "go try agains somewhere else", as I think most of us would.

On the other hand, we have a stickied FAQ and people STILL ask... some people will just always be lazy

I'm not saying this is a bad idea and I'm certainly not saying NO, I'm just saying we have 11 stickies already - when I've cleaned up the clutter then we shall have a place to advertise.

I recently noticed that Wanderhome has such a sticky. Its just a thread where people can spam their vendor locations and such. Dunno if it's really a good idea or not. I was looking through that from the standpoint of a "gun bunny" wanting to buy goods and decided it was useless to me. Too random, too unspecific, I really had no idea what people were stocking and at what prices, or whether they were just advertising empty "coming soon" vendors.

Then of course you're always going to have "PantieRaiders".
