Greetings,

I have plans to grind up BE and rejoin the profession. I was a BE long ago and really enjoyed it. But much has changed.

My question. I was considering looking at something like Master BE and Master Ranger with some CH with the points I had left over. Will my combat level be high enough to survive things like DNA sampling? Or do I really need a combat prof combined with BE to be successful in the wilds? Curious if anyone is a low combat level BE and is able to successfully sample DNA.

I also realize that Ranger is going to change sometime down the road to more of a combat prof and less on creature harvesting...when that happens I will drop back to Scout where the creature harvesting is headed. This might free up some points to take on some combat if needed.

The Master BE/Master Ranger is really a template that would be excellent to support my main chef toon. BE tissues, ranger to harvest meats, etc.. for crafting, etc.. just wondering if it's practical.

Thanks for any input. Wanted to hash things out before I started the grind.

You'll get some combat levels with ranger And you'll find many BEs on here that have successfully at CL17, for example, sampled DNA on Dathomir. It's really got to do with your BE DNA sampling level when it comes to success with creatures. Being a higher combat level seems to help when you're masking scent and trying to sample from vicious creatures, but it can definitely be done just fine Try to get some mask scent/camo clothes and jawa beer and you should be set

I believe CL 80 is only possible with Jedi / BE combinations, and CL 62-64 is with Mastery of a combat profession with Master BE.

To help you workout different template combinations head over to www.bloodfin.org and download a very very good profession calculator from the downloads section, it looks just like the profession tree and shows you what your combat level will be.

I am cl 58 and my template is mbe/mch with novice only rifleman and i can get dna from just about anything i want.Now if it a large group of creatures that will mob i have to do as Pink Floyd says and Run Run Run Run
