Thread: Idea new sampling method

Hi all just thought I'd throw this idea out for everyone to discuss if they like. I personally think the idea of it will fit in better in what the CU is sounding like.
Anyways heres the few ideas I've had. Go ahead and let me have it how you feel about them.
change would allow BE to sample creatures in a group, gaining the same advantages of grouping other proffessions get. (IE ability to kill tougher creatures) Also allows the bioengineer to participate in group hunts.
My proposal is that the creature must be killed first.
Then the bioengineer has a radial option to extract DNA from the corpse.
This could be related to dna sampling skill as to either how many sample you get as a loot and/or the chance of getting 0 to (say) 5(max) dna samples from the creature. Possibly work creature level into equation.
This could be allowed in cunjuction with harvesting creature resources or instead of allowing creature harvest. (IE either you try for dna and can not try for meat/bones/hide, or you go for the creature resources and get no DNA). Other group members are not affected by a bioengineer taking DNA sample. Multiple bioengineers can take samples from same corpse.
Possibly add a timer such that the bioengineer must remain motionless and not in combat at the corpse for 5-10 seconds to extract the DNA.
I think this works best cause it gets the bioengineer out in the field in a group. The group provides protection and the bioengineer activities do not impeed the group. The risk is still there.

Well this idea is good in concept but has a big flaw because a BE can just be in a group and just stay back waiting for players in the group to kill all the creatures and just go take samples.That in my opinion will makes some kind of vultures.
Maybe if as soon one of the group harvest any kind of resources that corpse will not be able to get sample for dna that way the group will be just BE's perhapz that will make us get together and organize sampling groups instead of spending most of our time in the lab
