Bio Engineer Archive

Good day all. I am a noivce CH 0/0/1/1. I plan to work my way up to Master CH. Is there a good bio-eng pet for someone of my skills, or should I concentrate on looking for a wild animal to tame? I am currently using a mounted giant spat as my tanking pet (he's down to CL 7 because it's a mount) and i'm just wondering if there is anything better out there.
